Could signs of appendicitis last for a long time before it becomes serious? |
I've had abdominal discomfort on the right side all week. Cramping pains, sick feelings that come and go and really tired. What's going on. I have an appt. today a 2:45 and I just want some input before I go. Thanks Thanks everyone!! There is nothing major wrong. I have several cysts on my ovaries. So who knows how long I will have this pain. I have an ultrasound next week to make sure it isn't something that is going to need more attention. Usually the pains are very sudden and very sharp. As in can't move or scream it hurts so bad. And it can make you very ill as well...vomiting...fever. It's very extreme. Usually wouldn't be going on for a week. You could have bad gas with a virus. Yes, gas can hurt really bad. Yes.consult your doctor now. Possibly, but not likely. If you have a fever, an elevated white cell count, lower right quadrant pain and rebound tenderness - these are the classic signs of an appendicitis, and your Dr. may recommend surgery. Sounds more like some kind of irritable bowel issue. Constipation or maybe even an ulcer. Usually appendicitis comes on quickly and the pain and discomfort will cause you to go to the emergency room. There is a condition that is called chronic appendicitis. In women, I would not discount something going on with the ovaries. I wish you luck in finding your answer and hope you feel better soon. I had mine taken out and it all happened within a 6 hr period of time, real quick. I DONT KNOW BUT IVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM THIS WEEK 2, IF YOU FIND OUT WHAT IT IS LET ME KNOW PLEASE. I suppose it's possible that you could be pain all week and it be your appendix--it's definitely safer to get it checked out. However, it is possible to have severe abdominal pain in your right side and it be virtually nothing--I've wound up in the emergency room twice like that, and both times they took CT scans and had no idea what was going on. It could just be a stomach bug. There is a really nasty one going around (I've had it all week). |
