Why does it hurt to sneeze?

When I sneeze I get sharp pains on both sides of my lower abdominal area. My sister gets them too and her doctor told her it is normal....but what is it? It doesn't seem right that every sneeze should be painful like that.

lol build up the muscles in your side so it dosen't hurt. it is normal though, it all hinges on the stregth of the sneeze.

I love sneezing it feels great :- )

maybe you have an abdominal hernia

really?

it is said that sneezing is as pleasurable as an orgasm

You sneeze when your body detects something in your nose that shouldn't be there, like dust. The power of the sneeze is probably based on how your body is reacting to the foreign object. Your body probably just has a more severe reaction.
