Abdominal Pain every time he eats?

My husband has severe abdomial pain on the lower right side everytime he eats. It doesn't matter what he eats. He is always in pain the pain gets so bad at times that he can't do anything but lie on the bed holding his stomach. He also stays constipated all the time also. He has been to the doctor and they have done a Abdominal scan and a Nuclear Scan and they have put him on a special diet but nothing has worked. They thought that it was his Galbladder but everything turned out normal. What could be causing his constant pain.

The Abdominal Scan that he has said that there were no Gall Stones and everything looked good.

You either need to take him back to his doctor or find a new one and take the previous test results with you. There is obviously a problem the current doctor has not picked up on.

Did they also do a full blood work up? Is he absolutely sticking to the special diet the doctor ordered? Was his lower digestive tract studied? We really can't give you the answer a qualified doctor could. By the way, did your doctor see a gastroenterologist or an internist? He needs a specialist and you need to bang that doctor's door down until they find the problem and come up with a solution. It sounds like he may have an inflammation of the bowel or a hernia. Does he run a fever at all when he experiences the pain?

I sure hope your husband gets the medical attention he needs and feels better soon. Good luck to you both.

Here are some links that may give you a little bit more information, to at least bring up with the doctor:

I had the same problem and it was gall stones, but mine passed...have they done an ultrasound on his tummy? that is what they did with me...

The stomach is the hardest to diagnose because there is so much going on in there it could be anything. The list could be endless. But whatever you do don't let them tell you it's depression, I have had three family members die of cancer when they were told their pain was merely caused from depression.

Put him on a two day fast, Lots of fluids, start it off with a glass of prune juice to solve the constipation problem. It does wonders.

Do the prune juice first and even if he doesn't fast cut the portions in half and go to low fat foods. Give this a try to purge his system.

If he is on any medications for other things that could be the problem. Medications are notoriously constipating. The prune juice is good for 2 or 3 times a week. He sounds as if his bowels are impacted. I went through the same thing
with some medicines and learned I was overdosing myself by taking Excedrin along with Vicodin.
Vicodin has acetaminophen in it as does Excedrin. Be sure to read the side effects pages.

Good Luck

I had something similar. I went 2 months in agony before finally finding a good hospital, with a great gastro Dr. who had me swallow a capsule endoscopy. It takes pictures for 8 hrs. in areas that other scopes cant reach. I had a complete blockage in the small intestine, they cut out a section and I was better. Go to a good gastroenterologist and ask about the "capsule endoscopy" test. Good luck.

....It could be as easy as ibs or a wheat allergy. I would suggest having the nuclear scan on the gallbladder redone or even evaluated by another doctor. There are many things that can go wrong with your gallbladder, 1 you could have gallstones, 2 their could be a blockage, 3 it could not be functioning. If he has a low ejection factor it could cause this pain after eating. I know when I was having gallbladder problems before I had mine removed after every meal I had the worst stomach ache and seriously for 3 years I just thought my body didn't do well with food. Then I had the test performed and found out my gallbladder was shot. Have you been going to the same doctor or have you tried a gastro specialist? I would try getting into see a specialist.
