Has anyone else had ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) and have come out of a coma?

If so, can you briefly explain your story and how you managed to retrain your body afterwards? Did or do you have any mental or other physical ailments that you can't get rid of? (I still suffer greatly from short-term memory loss).

hi, sorry, i've never had ARDS but i've worked with patients who had ARDS. they're not really in a coma, they are just heavily sedated because they are going to be put on a ventilator that will cause a lot of discomfort.

because the lungs are very sick, it could have been that the lungs were not able to breathe in adequate amount of oxygen and this has affected a certain part in your brain --- and that's probably what resulted in short-term memory loss

or also it depends -- how did you get ARDS? were you in a car accident? if yes, then ARDS may have been the side effect of the real issue and the loss of short-term memory stems from the actual problem

My grandma died from ARDS.

I've taken care of people with ARDS. Usually most people die from it and very few survive. Consider yourself very lucky. I have not heard of any side effects such as memory loss but everyone is different right?
