Losing weight aid.?

I am - obese. I don't look it, but I'm 5'2", and weigh 210 pounds. My body type - lucky for me, sets all my gained fats to my hips mostly, my back end, and my thighs. Which makes it pretty easy to conceal, and the likely reason it hasn't really daunted me.

I love... love food. I mean. If I could eat without guilt, when I wasn't hungry - I would do it. Flavors just amaze me.

But here's my problem:

Diabetes runs in my family. And of late I've become really subconscious about the way I look; I would kill to be in shape like some of the other dancers in the class I take. It's not even about being skinny, it's about being lean, healthy, and in shape.

But my motivation always seems to fall short. I don't have anyone willing to partner with me, and I'd rather bang my head into a wall for a few hours then go out running. I also have a low-income of money, and most of it goes to my college classes. Meaning that I tend to buy things like top ramen, or frozen chicken. But I really need help.

Short of becoming a drug addict or undergoing a course of Chemotherapy there are very few easy ways to lose weight. We live in a world where we don't have to be dedicated and expect instant gratification. Yes it is hard to stick to a diet and no exercise isn't most people's favourite thing. However if you want to live a healthy life you need to get real with yourself.

Visit a doctor, dietitician, gym trainer for a professional opinion and keep searching until you find ones that understand YOU or search the internet like crazy.

Put together a program and a diet that is one YOU can stick do. Doing what others do may not work. Never limit yourself to food you know you can't stick to. Give yourself one day 'off' eating properly and exercising a week. I used to bribe myself by keeping track of my exercise and once I had achieved a certain amount a week I would reward myself (NOT with food) with new clothes or a movie.

Lots of bigger people look at thinner ones and think they are lucky (and other names I won't put here) but take it from a thinner girl I work my butt off (no pun intended) and don't eat everything I want. That isn't to say I don't enjoy life. You will start to enjoy or at least acknowledge the benefits of exercise and healthy lifestyle after a while. I have diabetes in my family too and that is what motivates me to stay healthy. It is not a nice disease.

Good Luck I wish you all the best. And stay strong you can do it!

The first simplest thing you can do is drink water, eat what you like and just watch your portions.

meth.
lots and lots of meth.

jk.

Find out how many calories you burn daily. Then, limit yourself to x amount of calories per day and try to burn atleast half the calories you ate. It's really easy once you get going.

squats

You aren't obese. You are morbidly obese, and if you dont' think you look it at 5-2 and 210, you've got another think coming.

Now, your spelling is bad, which changes the meaning of your last paragraph- you say you would rather bang your head into a wall for a few hours "then" (a sequential then) go running. So if you want to do one first and "then" the other, why not just cut out the head banging, and go running alone?

There is no easy answer. Diet and exercise really are the way you do it, no way around it. You can make little changes so that it doesn't seem so drastic. Brown rice instead of ramen noodles. Make a stir fry with it. Walking instead of running (it's more fun if you do it through a mall, hint hint, especially if you have no money on you so you can't get 'accidentally' into debt). Swimming. Taking stairs instead of the elevator. Limiting television so you're forced to move around more just in finding something else to do..

If diabetes runs in your family then you have cause for concern. It would be wiser to tackle your nutritional challenges now, when it's optional, then wait until your health is jeopardized to change. Diabetes can be prevented, but not cured.

The smartest thing you can do is go to your doctor, and ask for a referral to a nutritionist. They can teach you how to cook healthily on a budget and how to incorporate exercise into your daily life.

The diabetes should be your #1 motivating factor, G/F!
It's not just the sticks and checks of your sugar daily, but the damage it does to your internal organs that you can't feel.....your eyes, your kidneys, etc. YOUR veins in your feet and legs, called diabetic neuropathy which is painful and not reversible! Once you have it....you just have to deal with it. Get on craigslist and put in your city and find a partner to work out with. I find lots of tings on craigslist.....just like any place else, be careful when meeting people.
Losing weight and exercising is often more fun when done as a team or at least to begin with. Good luck!

I recently lost 60lbs and I did that by eating a steady diet of ramen noodles - one serving per day. one low fat yogurt per day and three protein shakes made with water not milk. the ramen noodles cost about .25 the yogurt was .50 and the protein shakes were about .33 per shake. So you can see I didnt spend alot on food. I also drank diet sodas and tons of water whenever hunger pains struck me. The longer I did it the less hungry I got. If you are 5'2 and 210 I doubt you are really hiding the fact that you have a weight problem from anyone. You might be in some denial but the good thing is that you want to do something about it -so take action and by the way I only walked 15 minutes a day for exercise. It took me 7mos to lose the 60lbs and I have kept if off all summer and fall and I have been eating more regular foods - CAREFULLY. GOOD LUCK IT CAN BE DONE

all people love food. i would eat all day cakes without stopping. and ice cream. but unlike animal we can control our desires. also we may make ourselves like smth. i made myself to like exercising. i hate running too, as u i would rather bang my head on the wall. i just hate it. but there re other ways of cardio - aerobics and shaping. u may do it in your home with music u record from tv or radio for 1 hour. when i had small children i couldn't go to gym or run so i was doing it every day while they were sleeping, so i lost all this extraweight i got after pregnancy. it doesn't require any money at all. and about food - frozen RAW chicken is all right - u can roast it in the oven. the healthiest food ever

Not exactly sure what your question is hun, but a trainer may be able to help you. I offer reduced rates for clients who will be with me for a long term basis.
Find something you like to do where motivation (or lack of) won't be a factor.
let me know if you can define your question some more, maybe I can help you with a plan or a guideline

First of all i would like congragulate you for your guts to put a question on yahoo answers and discussing your problem with all others. That is a very good sign it shows that you have willpower. Ok I calculated your BMI, Unfortunately it was 38.5. According to the national institute of heatlth if u have BMI above 25 then your unhealthy and If u have a BMI above 37 then you are extremely OBESE. Now your problem is that you cannot stop yourself from eating especially FAST FOOD. To fix this problem you can eat salads topped with the "Flavours" you like. This way you can eat healthy and enjoy your meal. As far for motivation you don't really need someone to motivate you. I believe the best motivation a person can get is from him/her self. If that doesn't help buy books of people who were previously obese and lost weight. This wil really increase your moral. Aerobic Exercise is the best way to burn calories. Every morning wake up and go for a brisk walk for 30 min. Come back take a shower and then meditate. Let your brain swim into another galaxy.... Think that you are the most beautiful person in the earth......You are talented more than anyone else....YOU ROCK!!!. Then drink 7 glasses of water. Don't drink 7 on the very first day gradually increase your number day by day and the most important part GET YOUR *** MOVING!!! DON'T BE A COUCH POTATO. Hope this helps!!!!!!

Hi there Jessica, I have to say I identify very much with what you're talking about. I have had a similar experience and similar goals and I did something pretty drastic. I went to a weight loss camp like the ones on http://www.fitnesscamps.net/ and it's something i never looked back on. I see that you have limited income, but this is something you don't want to mess with. The best thing about the program i did, which may not be right for you so check out several ones, was that I learned a whole bunch about nutrition, and how to enjoy food, which i absolutely do. Don't forget about textures as well as flavors! hehe, but i learned how to make really healthy foods that i could basically eat a whole bunch of because it was so low cal. The lessons i learned have lasted a lot more than the time i spent there at the camp. I hope this advice helps you, and that you at least consider this option. It can be pricey, but you know what it's like to have diabetes and it isn't pretty or hope inspiring. so Good Luck on your quest, and it's great you're thinking about doing something!
