Natural sleep aid?

so lately i have not been able to get good sleep... i wake up alot and dont get good sleep.... i feel like crap most of the day and then when i want to sleep i cant.... its like there is something keeping me up but i dont know what it is.... so i need help!!! i cant go on like this.... i need sleep!!!

take a bath with Lavender (they make bubble bath with Lavender or you can buy lavender extract and put a few drops of it into the bath). Also read before you go to bed. This should help...GOOD LUCK....zzzzzzz

you can try Melantonin or St John's Wort

if it keeps up see a doctor

Melatonin is a good natural sleep aid. It is available at GNC and other vitamin shops. It doesn't leave you groggy the next day like a lot of prescriptions do.

You can't go pat a nice mug of warm milk with chocolate in it.

2 good options is exercsing or drinking sleep time tea or warm milk
good excercise like jogging or running will decrease your energry and is a good way to make ur body n mind tired
and the tea and warm milk usuaully calms the stomach and relaxs your body and in that case ur mind as well
and if even that doesnt work read a book that will put u out in no time hope this helped

Valerian root is guaranteed, unlike meletonin valerian is a herbal extract that actually affects your mind. Wild lettace extracts KNOCKS ME OUT, after i take one of the capsule or make the tea i am gone.

passion flower extract or skullcap is a good sleep aid:)

When I first talked to my doctor about having trouble sleeping he would tell me that a warm glass of milk would do the trick. You can give that a go. It worked in the short term for me but now I take ambien since he now says that I suffer from insomnia....(ughhh!!)

try drinking warm milk with little bit of sugar ...
turn off tv and put all other things aside 15-20 min
before u go to bed so that ur surrondings r at peace

tea

Warm milk does help. You could also try straight chamomile tea or sleepy time tea. Valerian root helps some people. If you drink beverages with caffeine try cutting them out or not drinking them after say noon or three pm.

We just did a sleep study in my nursing class. Apparently, insomnia can be caused by too much protein intake but carbohydrates are known to stimulate sleep. People with hypothyrodism suffer from lack of NREM sleep. Researchers also found that psychological stress which decreases REM amount, lifestyles (such as continuous shift change from night to day and vise versa), diet, exercise (never exercise 2 hours before bed time), alcohol, caffiene, nicotine, illness, environmental factors, and certain meds can disturb your sleep cycle.

It sounds like you do manage to fall asleep but you wake up often. You are not getting into the REM phase of your sleep (deep sleep). Without this phase, you will experience anxiety and irritability. Sedatives are sometimes recommended for insomnia but should be used for a relatively short period of time. These drugs usually give people a hangover effect in the morning. I would recommend that you seek the help of your doctor to perhaps refer you to a sleep specialist. Most doctors prescribe sedatives for those complaining of insomnia. You can try to get sedatives on your own. If they don't work or you become dependent on them or are experiencing side effects, you should bring this up to your physician and have a referral to a sleep specialist.

p.s. be careful not to consume too much beverage at night as it can wake you up because you have to void alot. Tea contains caffiene which will defeat your purpose.

Chamomile Tea

turn yourself around.
head at the foot of the bed.
and stop reading and/or watching tv in bed.
write down thoughts to clear your brain first.
try meditation.
basically change your habits,
stop the caffiene around supper time.
see what happens.

try a natural remedy at www.safemedsforless.com. They have quality products at good prices. They will ship it to you. If that doesn't work you can check out there online pharmacy and talk to their physician that will give you a perscription online.

Studies show that DMAE can elevate mood and promote more restful sleep, as well as help increase mental focus, clarity of thought and muscle tone.
The secret is DMAE's ability to promote the formation of acetylcholine, an important brain neurotransmitter.
Your mind is the first part of your body to show signs of a nutritional deficiency.
Take a good Multi-Vitamin and Mineral supplement, plus Omega 3 oils. All proven to enhance mental acuity.
A 'Chemical Imbalance' is a mineral imbalance, which is a 'Mineral Deficiency'.

Sleep Quotes to inspire you tonight:

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow--
You are not wrong who deem
That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

Edgar Allan Poe

Methought I heard a voice cry, 鈥楽leep no more!

Sleep that knits up the raveled sleeve of care.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

I have used meletonin and valerian root. Both seem to work well. My aunt said taking a warm ginger bath helps her to relax and sleep.

-Take a glass of milk, sweetened with honey (with or without a pinch of nutmeg) every night half an hour before bedtime.
-Massage gently using sesame oil or brahmi oil on the scalp and the soles of the feet before going to bed for few minutes.
