Strange question from my brother...?

In an emergency situation, could a stun gun or taser be used in place of a AED (automatic external diffibulator) if one is unavailable?

No.

The defib passes through the body and works on the heart by restarting it or bringing it back into normal ryhthm.

A taser or stun gun passes through to the muscles and tenses up all muscles in the area. But has no positive affect on the heart but can CAUSE heart irregularities. It can also internally burn someone who has a pacemaker in, by heating up the metal.

Use CPR in an emergency.

i really doubt it.

the taser is meant to put all your muscles jiggling so you can't do anything.

an AED is a circuit that goes through you to put your heart back online.

completely different purposes.
