I am wondering if I am being over medicated...it just seems too much?

I am currently taking Zoloft 100mg (depression), serax 30mg 2 x's a day (anxiety), Antabuse (alcoholism), and adderall (ADHD).

im not a doctor, buttt i will tell you that what you are taking actualy makes sense, and it doesn't seem like a lot. it may seem like a lot to you, but with honesty here, i think those drugs would work well together and help you get to the desired effect....
if your really concerned, talk to the dr who wrote all those scripts and find out for yourself....

Well I looked up the interactions at drugs.com and it looks like the zoloft does not generally interact well with the antabuse or the adderall. If the same doctor is prescribing all of them, maybe you should speak to that doctor about the interactions to see what to watch out for.

life is simple make it simple ,love your body stop being to much focus to make everything perfect

It doesn't seem like too much...

If you're feeling over-medicated talk to your doctor about it. There may be a side effect that you're having from one or more of the meds or their interactions with each other that makes your head feel cloudy.

Good luck.

If you feel you are overmedicated, talk with your doctor.

Perhaps at this time in your life, you may need them? Are they helping or not? YOU know your body and whether or not these medications are helpful for you.

I have been on medications before, too, and when i had questions or issues about my doseages and medications, i always talked with the doctor.

take care

If you are taking those medications and they are needed and they are helping you deal with symptoms, then no you are not being overly medicated. If you feel like you don't know who you are anymore and the side effects are taking over your life, than yes you are being over medicated, or on the wrong meds.

Very probably.
A new report shows that the risks of psychiatric drugs are being kept buried by vested interests. See the first three sources, all from the media.

Then there's this:

June 2004: The FDA ordered that the packaging for the stimulant ADDERALL include a warning about sudden cardiovascular deaths, especially in children with underlying heart disease.

August 20, 2004: A Columbia University review of the pediatric (child) clinical trials of ZOLOFT, Celexa, Effexor, Wellbutrin, Paxil and Prozac, found that young people who took them could experience suicidal thoughts or actions.

February 9, 2005: Health Canada, the Canadian counterpart of the FDA, suspended marketing of ADDERALL XR (Extended Release, given once a day) due to reports of 20 sudden unexplained deaths (14 in children) and 12 strokes (2 in children) in patients taking Adderall or Adderall XR.

July 16, 2005: The British Medical Journal published a study, "Efficacy of antidepressants in adults," by Joanna Moncrieff, senior lecturer in psychiatry at University College London who found that antidepressants were no more effective than a placebo (fake pill) and do not reduce depression. In a media interview on the study, Dr. Moncrieff stated, "The bottom line is that we really don't have any good evidence that these drugs work."

May 1, 2006: An American Journal of Psychiatry study revealed that elderly people prescribed antidepressants such as Prozac, Paxil, and ZOLOFT are almost five times more likely to commit suicide during the first month on the drugs than those given other classes of antidepressants.

July 9, 2007: "Cures killing hundreds" was the headline in The Daily Telegraph in Australia, which reporting that the Therapeutic Goods Administration (Australia's equivalent of the FDA) has revealed that HUNDREDS OF AUSTRALIANS HAVE DIED AND THOUSANDS MORE SUFFERED GRUESOME SIDE EFFECTS after taking anti-psychotic drugs. An Australian law firm is taking on drug giant Eli Lilly in a class action for a group of Australians who suffered side effects after taking the anti-psychotic drug Zyprexa. The article cites CCHR ally lawyer Simon Harrison, stating, "We are now in the double figures with clients from Zyprexa and we are seeing a number of alleged problems鈥?The problems vary from inadequate policing of the medication to the alleged side effects of the medication not being conveyed."

Sounds like one pill is overmedication.

Good Lord........ZOLOFT..ADDERALL and ANTABUSE...oh Hun...tis not a good mixture~~ Might you seek out a second opinion from another Mental Health Professional, one that has practicing privileges in another hospital, etc. This is somewhat SCARY!!! Here is a web page ...all the info is taken from the Pharmaceutical Companies ... clinical papers, etc..the Good and ALL THE NEGATIVE...take a look, tis easy to read, simple to find the info you're seeking, etc. I truly wish you the best, and may you be healthy without all this err...stuff~~ There are natural ways to do so that are very effective, cost little and work immediately if not in a mere day or two...MY BEST TO YOU

If this is the combination of meds your doctor has prescribed you and they seem to accomplish what they are supposed to, as long as you discuss any side-effects or other concerns with your doctor, that's actually not a lot of medications, especially since they are all treating different things. Unfortunately, no one has been able to put everything in one pill yet which totally sucks.

At night, I am currently taking 1000 mgs of Depekote ER, 450 mgs of Serequel, 100 mgs of Topamax, 100 mgs of Lamictal and 100 mgs of Trasydone. In the morning I currently take 250 mgs of Depekote ER, 300 mgs of Serequel, 100 mgs of Topamax, 100 mgs of Lamictal, and 20 mgs of Adderall XR. I would love it if they could just put all of these meds in one pill to treat Bi-Polar, but it doesn't look like they'll be doing that anytime in the near future, probably not in my lifetime anyway. Two of the ones I take are mood stabilizers and two are anti-psychotics, the Trasydone is a sleeping med, and of course the Adderall is to treat my ADHD. They keep me stable and are doing their job like they are supposed to. I haven't had a mood swing from Manic to Depression in almost 3 years which is great because I am what they consider a "rapid cycler" and if I'm not medicated or my meds aren't regulated really well, I jump back and forth really quickly from one mood to the next. So by keeping my doctor informed with what all goes on with my concerns and side-effects and stuff, she can make adjustments as she sees fit. I never actually settle down into the "normal" level - I am always in a "hypomanic" state which all of the doctors I have ever seen have determined is my state or "normal."

(I also have to take prescription heartburn medication, and use my Advair Discus twice a day, and often have to rely on my Albuterol inhaler several times a day unless I use my breathing machine with my nebulizer treatments to help me open up my lungs and breath better).

Anyway, I just wanted to described to you that you could be taking a LOT more drugs, and that you are lucky if you can get such a small combination to work so well for you. If you are really concerned about taking these 4 becaus eyou think it's too many, then you should really make sure your doctor understands your point of view at your next appointment. Also, like I said in the beginning, make sure you stay on top of side-effects and keep him informed of those as well.

Good luck to you.
