What meds for bipolar and borderline personality disorder?

I was just diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and bipolar and ADHD. Anyone else have this? And what meds are you on? Thanks!

OMG.... that's a scary set of diagnoses and they are NOT compatible. In my experience, one cannot be DID and bi-polar at the same time.l Doesn't happen. ADHD is very popular right now... I have found that my bi-polar disorder had a LOT to do with my math disability. Thinking on seven levels when everyone else can think about one thing at a time is HARD! The medication that turned my life around was Depakote. There are several types of this. Do NOT give up.... chemical imbalance is NOT our fault. You are in my heart. Hugs, Gina C.

sometimes doctors are too quick to cast a name for your behavior.i have all of your symptom's.medication is an option you will have to experiment with. if you have a prayer life use it.the expert that diagnosed you would prescribe maybe, Prozac or even Valium.be careful not to take any medication for too long a period.remember to stop taking it for a while and reflect.its a bit of a process but you will figure it out.

You can't have ADHD and Bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder disqualifies you diagnostically for ADHD. Whoever gave you that diagnosis just diagnosed your mania twice. Don't take any ADHD treatments as you're at risk for a psychotic episode if you do. A psychotic episode could lead you to harm yourself or others and land you in an asylum. Make sure you are going to a psychologist (for counseling and over-all control of your care) and a psychiatrist (for prescriptions with the advice of the psychologist). Do not go to a regular doctor for a mental disorder. They have no training in psychology.

As for bipolar disorder there are a lot of new drug treatments that work many times better than anything they were giving people just a few years ago. You'll likely be on an anti-mania drug (mood-stabilizers that are also used as anti-convulsants for epileptics) and an anti-depression drug (SSRIs). These usually balance each other out and keep you from going too far in either direction.

Counseling is also very effective as you can find ways of coping with the mood swings so that they don't hurt your life as much.

Borderline personality disorder is often an off-shoot of bipolar disorder. The rapid mood changes and such can cause you to have problems dealing with your concept of self-identity. BPD is an acquired fully psychological disorder and can be treated very effectively with counseling. Just learning to recognize that you have bipolar disorder and what it is will likely lead to the borderline personality disorder going away eventually.

Bipolar disorder is a genetic disorder that you will have for the rest of your life. There's no cure. Focus on that. The rest are just extensions of your bipolar disorder.

I HAVE BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER AND I AM NOT ON ANY MEDS RIGHT NOW HAVENT TAKEN ANY FOR IT.
