Someone help me please....? |
I am stressed out and dont know what to do.I take care of my mother-in-law and have to deal with 3 kids on top of that. mother-in-law has melinoma cancer and is on hospice so I do everything for her. Other than that I have a child who is ADHD and I have to deal with that too. Can someone tell what I can do out side of the house that will relive my stress other than the gym. I think I do enough walking, pulling and carrying around as it is. My husband helps wear he can when he can and his family not to good at it. Your situation is called the 'sandwich generation', caring for both kids and parents. Below is a link from the Mayo clinic listing a bunch of stress-reducing strategies. If the mother-in-law is on hospice, ask to talk to her case manager to get additional assistance. You need to set boundaries on what you will and won't do and hold to them. Recruit assistance from your husband and his family. Have your kids do more. Good luck. If you have a dog - throw a ball or frisbee for him. It'll relieve some stress to throw something. Sit in the grass pet your dog.. BIG stress reliever. Don't have a dog or cat --- just sit outside. Find a quiet peaceful place in the shade and breathe the outside air.. notice the birds and the butterflies and the new leaves/plant growth... I always feel better after I walk around the yard and look at the things growing.... (as long as it's not just weeds...) You need magnesium and coral calcium, definitely. Also a good liquid potassium suppliment such as vemma. Meditation can help, clearing your mind. Find a massage student and let them practice on you--free massage! Relaxing and cheap! Sometimes changing the way we look at things can help. What I've been using for this is affirmations (check out the book You Can Change Almost Anything in 21 Days) and the book Shift Happens by Robert Holden. Of course, it's important to find something YOU find relaxing. Good luck. |
