Anyone know where I can find solid, unbiased info on Rispradone (risperadal)? |
My son's psychiatrist is recommendin that we try Risperidone to treat his ADHD and Tourette Syndrome as we are no longer able to manage with simply modifying his diet and attending therapy. Please dont preach at me for considering medication, this is not something I wanted but it has become something of a last resort. I am beating myself up enough. Thank you all for any help you can offer. Sorry, I should have been more clear on this, the medication is not specifically to treat ADHD, it is used in the treatment of Tourette Syndrome, but also helps control impulsivity without the stimulant effects of ritalin. My doctor is only providing me biased info since it is she who keeps pushing for THIS drug. I found some information at Medicinenet.com (link below), but I'm not exactly sure what information you're looking for. Good Luck. I have never heard of Risperdal being used to treat AD/HD, as it is an antipsychotic. It has also been found to have a lot of side effects and I have seen a lot of clients have adverse effects to the medication and allergic reactions. I would ask your doctor to provide you with some unbiased information that shows that this medication has been found to be effective in treating AD/HD and would also ask you psychiatrist to fully discuss all the potential side effects of the medication with you. check British national formulary (bnf.org) check these site out they maybe able to help you a little more. |
