Girlfriend taking adderall to lose weight??

starting this weekend my gf is starting to take adderall to drop weight...takeing TWO adderall pills a day. She is ADHD....she says when she is on them she doesn't eat at all it makes her so focused...she is 135 and said she wants to lose at least 20 pound with it...she has beeing pigging out the past few weeks just because of this...she has done it before...but is this healthy?...she also said i can't see her for the next 2 weeks because of the meds and how they make her......anyone have any experience with adderall...and know if what she is doing is ok?

she said she thinks she's fat and i constantly tell her how great she looks at that weight....she says she wants no butt or boobs.

I have a prescription for adderal, and it also is an appetite suppressant. Starting at 2 pills is over-doing it (whether it's 10 mg or 5 mg) and at her weight she really should start low and increase it gradually. I wouldn't recommend more than 20 mg a day, maximum. If she's becoming way too high strung and irritable to the point that she has to limit contact with you while she's on it, I would say that it's a problem. ADD medication is to help one focus, and if it interferes in any other aspect of her life, I would say she would need to lower her dosage. Doing too much too soon can shock her system.

She should only take adderal if it was prescribed to her by a doctor of psychiatrist. If she has a weak heart, she shouldn't be on it. The safest way to lose weight is to eat less, limit fat and sugar intake, and get daily exercise. Basic, yes, but effective.

If she's going to continue taking it despite your pleas, I would encourage you to at least have her limit her usage.

i dont have experience with adderall.... but im pretty sure any normal person can vote with me on the fact they're only suppoused to be used for the reason they were made. Not to lose weight. I mean im sure it wont kill her if she took it sometimes but if she is even stooping to this level and think she needs to drop 20 lbs it seems like she has alot of confidence and self conscious issues. Maybe as a boyfriend, you can help. Give her compliements and tell her you love her the way she is now, try to boost her confidence.

maybe this issue is too big for you and you should talk to her parents. Maybe you could even call her Doctor and tell him what she is doing. This would allow you to stay annonymous and have her Doctor cut her off. This is a serious problem.
