Does Adderall have the same effects when sick?

I was recently prescribed Adderall for ADHD and I was taking 20 mg a day, now my doctor increased my dosage to 30 mg XR twice daily. Well, I just came down with a cold and don't feel ANYTHING from my prescription. A few days leading up to my cold, I felt the effects of the Adderall to start decreasing...

Trying to figure out if it's my tolerance, cold, or both minimizing the Adderall's effects.

comeback is leading you a little wrong on the Adderall. Adderall is a stimulate that starts working (full strength in about 20-30 minutes) after you take the pill and is in your system a few hours. At the end of some number of hours you withdraw from that medication like it was never in your system. The next day starts that process up again. There is no build-up in your system needed like anti-depressants.

Because there is no build-up needed to either get on adderall or get off it, I usually don't take it when I'm sick and am going to be laying around the couch recuperating. If cold medicne is going to make my head feel fuzzy anyway then what is the point of wasting a pill. I'll pick it up again when I have the next class or meeting.

right now, i have the flu and i take adderall XR 20mg...and i'm fine. i still can pay attention, i just choose not to....besides that, since your doc prescribed it to you recently, you won't feel the effects at 100% until it's been a few weeks. you're creating more problems for yourself because you're worrying too much about it, relax....you're adderall with work soon. it takes time for drugs like that to work it's way through your body..it'll work soon.
