Wondering about Adhd........?

ok well im 13 years old and im a girl. my school thinks that i have adhd and so does everyone that knows me. the school is going to contact my mom soon and tell her that i should get evaluated for adhd
so my question for you is what should i expect the adhd evaluation to be like and what am i going to have to do?
please be as specific as possible
thanks

Although I've never done testing myself, I'm a school teacher so I'm familiar with the process. Technically the school can't MAKE your mom get you evaluated or they're liable to pay for it. However, the evaluation usually involves a survey given to all your teachers and your parents that asks all sorts of questions about your behavior and personality. You'll probably have to talk to someone who will evaluate you as well. There's usually no medical evaluation other than just talking to the people in your life. It's not very stressful, so don't worry about it. Be glad your school is trying to help you (even if you're not actually ADHD) and not just letting you struggle through school. Oh, and the survey they give your teachers just has them check "never," "seldom," "often," or "always" for the behaviors. There's a section at the bottom for additional notes, but it's pretty straight-forward. Best of luck with whatever outcome you get. :)

When I was evaluated for ADHD they just gave me several questionaires to fill out. Do you find it difficult to concentrate? Are you easily frustrated? Do you always complete what you start? That kind of thing. The questionaires can be a bit long, but there's nothing scary about them.

Do you really think you have got it or is it an excuse to misbehave, abuse teachers and get away with things you know are not acceptable. Too many children are labelled ADHD, because they do not want to take responsibilty for their actions and see it as a manipulative cop out.

You will be perscribed drugs then you can
go on a tri-state killing spree

Well number one a school can't diagnose you. I have a 12 year old that is borderline adhd. Diagnosed at 4 years old. ADHD is hard to diagnose and sometimes misdiagnosed. A couselor first talks to you and your parents. They ask alot of questions like eating habits, activity and how you are in and outside of school, if anything has changed in your life lately (a marriage, divorce, a new baby and even a funeral). They asked these question not to be mean or anything but to rule out a behavior problem other than adhd. Then a parent or parents have to fill out this form on your behavior and so does each teacher in school. The couselor used that to determine if you are or not. In my son case he did have borderline adhd and also a behavior issue due to absences in his life like his biological father was not in his life since he was 2, his step father went over sees during the war and his uncle went into the military to. He didn't need meds and it was more behavior than anything with alot of anger with it.

good luck everything will turn out okay.

I just discovered that I had it, and I am about the same age. I filled out a paper and I got reallllly frusterated while filling it out so they pretty much diagnosed me with it wiht out really even knowing (my school that is) and they also made me sit in white room with a pencil and paper. boring huh!? it was tourtre but after it was over and I got ont he meds school was much better! so dont be worried take the test! either way you life will most likly stay the same! hopefully this helped!

the school is just lazy and doesnt want to deal with anyone who is not a complete zombie.

the test that i took was just a few pages of questions about my attention span etc.
