ADHD-inattentive Concerns? |
I have ADHD-inattentive and I'm on Strattera for it. I don't want to be on this medication for the rest of my life, it's only $26 with my insurance since I still get my parent's insurance while I'm in college. Once I graduate in a year, though, I'll be insurance-free and the drug costs $230, something I won't be able to afford to be quite honest with you. I have ADHD as well and I am on the same medication. I find that the medication helps me a lot, I don't know about you though. I am in college too and it is very expensive. My ADHA doctor says that a change in diet can help a lot. Try to get enough protein, check it out on the internet, search in on google or one of those sights. good luck! I have ADHD and the way I overcame it was by the dog wanted to go for a walk and I painted the house but American Idol was on and I pooped. Get a job lined up after graduation that will have an insurance policy. You inow honestly I think Concerta is better if you are in college though are sure that their insurance won't cover you while your in college. My son is adhd my nephew too. I really have a hard time believing as an asult that you have hyper part still however, I have add without the h in there and I just have to breath count to 10 and remember what I was doing and to not read between the lines in books I try to trick my mind into believing I want to read it and make sure i am in a quiet setting. Maybe concerta would be cheaper for you Kudos for going to college. I checked at walgreens and they aare very wxpensive concerta would only be 116 a month Dietary changes can help significantly. Check out this article. I think consulting your GP about it being very forward, ask them about if or how you can ween yourself off strattera. They are probably the best people to deal with your individual case and will only give you the facts, not info that could be wrong. How old are you 22 or so? have you discussed this with your parents to find other ways to obtain the meds, even though you shouldnt feel like it, many associations consider adhd a disability, i know that there are ways to get meds low cost or free. not sure though. you can consult a womans clinic or a dr. see what they say. My older son has add, without the hyperactivity, and iam sure 100% that he got it from me. Ive dealt with it my whole life, have had my ups and downs with it, but i think most of the time ive dealt well, you have to understand that you may just have a different way of going about doing things as in learning and how you say things, takes a lot of practice and patience with yourself. you can live with out med and i also dont have insurance, there are also homopathic remedies online you can research. when my son was in elementary we had him tested in and out of school, our last resort was meds. at that time was the typical ritlan. did not work well for him , then we switched to aderal he was on that for about a year, took him off for the summer. never put him back on, by the time he was 14, something changed in him and he was making almost all a's in school. being that i understand him with the same thing is helpful he can relate with me, but i have really never let him know that he is any different than anyone else, i just push him a little harder (within limits) anyway iam rambling, just train yourself to focus a little more, dont have distrations while your studing and so forth good luck I was DIAGNOSED with ADD and I thought it was just a bunch of crap people talked to explain why I didn't try hard in school. You might NOT have ADD or ADHD. Just consider that. When I got to college I loved how different it was from high school. You made your own schedule and one class's homework was due in 4 days or 1 week instead of every day. Anyway, just try to stay focused. ADD Drugs make that harder, not easier. Drugs are a bad idea, no matter what. |
