ADHD and Adderall? |
I have just recently been diagnosed with ADHD, and been prescribed 10 mg of Adderall. I started taking it about 2 months or so ago, and it doesn't seem to be working. In fact, it seems to be doing the opposite effect of what its supposed to be doing. I'm more irritable, I am more unfocused, and I jump at everything. Not to mention I have a dry mouth, I'm fatigued, and it makes me have high anxiety. I was talking to one of my friends, and she said that if the opposite effects happen on someone taking it, that means that they dont have ADHD/ADD. Is this true? Can anyone relate? Just a quick other note - so does this mean i was diagnosed incorrectly? Yea, becuase when i was in high school kids that didn't have adhd would take aderrall just to get "messed up" I guess. They would be super jumpy, hyper, all that. It does do the reverse affects on someone who does not have adhd if you take aderall. I was recently diagnosed with ADD also and have been taking Wellbutrin which I have been tolerating well. It didn't really help with my problems with focus and concentration so the doctor prescribed Focalin which I will begin to take on Friday. What I've learned is that not all medicines work the same for everyone. It may very well be that while Adderall doesn't help you, another medicine might. You need to speak with your doctor about that. I agree that these days many doctors are quick to take the easy way out and diagnose ADD because it's just easier I guess. For my diagnoses I went to a few doctors and had a bunch of assessments done before the conclusion was ADD. If you feel you might have been wrongly diagnosed, my suggestion would be to seek a second and even third, fourth, etc. opinion. Other doctors might also offer different suggestions. Remember, if you have a broken down car, you take it to the mechanic but if you're not satisfied with that mechanic you find another one. Right? Same thing with doctors and your body and health are obviously much more important than, say, a car. |
