ADHD testing?

In an ADHD test, what kinds of questions will the doctor ask? What kinds of things will he do? Please answer only if you have ADHD or are a doctor

If you want a true assessment forget having the answers prepared ahead of time so you get the diagnosis that you are seeking.

Okay Im answering this not from a doctor or a ADHD viewpoint.

I know you said not to answer but i want to assure you that i dont think they want you to know the answers.. or u will be able to think about them!

They will ask you/your parents some general questions that they always do.

Talking about an ADHD test; they don't ask you any questions. I've done an ADHD test myself. They make you sit down in front of a computer and everytime there is a square that blinks on the screen, you have to press a button. It sounds easy, but if you have ADHD sometimes you will fall asleep in the middle because it is EXTREMELY BORING.

I was tested for ADD/ ADHD when I was ten.
The kind of questions they asked was stuff like:
Did I have a hard time paying attention in class,
Did I have a hard time sitting or standing and waiting for long periods of time?

Be careful though, ADD/ ADHD are one of those fad psychologist things which is easily misdiagnosed.
It was determined many years later that I was misdiagnosed into having this disorder.

You did not say what type of Dr. you are going to see for the testing.
The type of test administered can be different depending on the specialty of the Dr. you will be seeing. Also your age plays a roll in the test, as they are attempting to determine cognitive function - How your Brain processes information.

If you are scared do not be, the questions are designed to help determine how your brain processes information.
For example let鈥檚 look at two brand new computers. One is a Dell with Windows Vista, and all the Goodies. The other is Brand New Apple Mac book pro loaded.
Each computer is very capable of taking in data and processing it, but they go about it in a different way. The Dell Vista system is more adept at crunching numbers running basic language functions but it can do visual arts projects, it just translates them differently.
Now take the Mac Book pro. Most musicians that compile their own music and all photographers that do any involved graphics modifications use Mac. It is capable of crunching the numbers that the Dell system does; it just looks at the problem differently.

So is a new Dell or Mac computer defective? No, they just have different ways of getting to the answer.
You will most likely get some word recognition questions = I say Apple, now you would most likely say Dell, you could say Orange?

We have names and acronyms for everything ADHD Attention Deficit/ hyperactivity disorder. New ones come along everyday. If the brain were a car engine, we would not even know what fuel to put in the tank to make it run properly.

ADHD did not exist as an acronym more than a decade ago and did not have a meaning descriptive of much more than the words themselves. It has been treated with Western medicine as well as Eastern. Pharmacologically as well as homeopathically.

We continue to learn more about the brain everyday and the acronym for the learning process known today as ADHD will undoubtedly change again as it has more than seven times this past century.

How you learn is not what you are, what you learn and how you use that knowledge will be what ultimately defines you. Live well, learn much about many things and spread your knowlege willingly. Knowledge is wealth.

Good luck;

Samuel
