Can I have ADD/ADHD???

I KNOW I ALREADY ASKED THIS QUESTION BUT I ADDED SOME DETAILS::::

I'm 15 years old.
Could I be diagnosed with ADD/ADHD at this age?
Symptoms:
*can't concintrate for long
*don't remember anything i studied for [example: last night studied for 3.5 hours for my english test today....when i got the test i blanked EVERYTHING...this happens in every test]
*lately having trouble falling asleep because I always have to move around
* always twitching/restless legs
* always have to have things moving fast

What can these mean???

Also my mom and I talked about getting tested for ADD/ADHD....what do they do when they test you?
And she is also afraid the medicine will cause harm to my body...ist this true??

ANSWERS PLEASE? thanks!!!!!

I also exercise almost every day [cheerleading is my main sport in fall and winter, softball in spring, and swimming

I also dont eat that much sugary stuff/caffiene

How much does it cost to get tested??

It's possible you may have one or the other. However, blanking out on tests is more a sign of anxiety. It happened to me during finals week once. I got to stressed out that I stared at the test and completely blanked out about everything. You can speak to a counselor at school and see if they can set up an evaluation for you. The testing is done right there in school. At least that's one way of finding out if you have ADD/ADHD.

you can be diagnosed with that at any age, its not only in children.

Yes, definatly a possability. Get a screening, then you'll know for sure. Be sure to get it done before you forget (just kidding)!

See a psychologist. A psychologist will test for ADD/ADHD without prescribing medicine.

just try to relax and dont think that you wont fall asleep casuse then you wont.

almost half of the U.S. population has ADD/ADHD, including undiagnosed people

You could use therapy instead of drugs to help treat it.

Possible.

I would diagnose you with being 15.

most likely.
the medicine will make you depressed, and sad, and irritated at first, but once you get used to it you will just be plain. not sure how to explain; your plain and normal and you dont get hyper.

um...yeah you do. when they test you they just ask you questions and stuff...i cant remember really what they did (since i have A.D.D) what you said in your question is exactly what i have. i forget things in school. as in things i want to remember. but i forget them. the only things i remember is stuff i have no need to remember. the only way i will remember anything is if someone reminds me. the medicine wont do anything...unless you take Aderoll. STAY AWAY FROM THAT!. it would always make me angry for no reason. and it would make me loose my appetite. you should take Ritalin. that has been doing good for me. nothing has happened to me except made me pay attention. which is a good thing. you have nothing to worry about. just be prepared to take medication.

i'm not a real doc but could be....there's a method u could use for studying....here goes : just relax n' do whatever u wanna do like eating, jumping, daydreaming till u're out of energy or get bored, then, get back to study,u'll be less distracted....good luck!!

You have to much going on, you need 8 hours of sleep. Someone will just talk to you and ask you what is going on in your life, that's about it...if they think you need meds....it will be to help you concrete most likely........some meds do help, but if that's the case, do some research on it about the side affects.......good luck and relax your going to be fine!

All of that stuff was happening to me and I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 15. I am 16 now. http://www.addca.com/add-adhd-test-diagn... <good website for this.

yeah it sounds like your add or adhd. so go get tested. basically they have you put a puzzle together and see how many times you stop or get distracted. they ask you a bunch of questions about what you do when you study and how long you can concentrate for etc. the tests really aren't that bad. and then when they diagnose you they will try to start with anything but meds and then if that doesn't work they will start you on some stimulants. the meds really aren't that bad but when you get up to the higher doses you will start to eat less and lose weight so you'll need to start watching what you eat and make sure that you have enough to eat every day. when i first started on adderall i lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks. and i was small to begin with. the exercise will help, although they will probably put you on short acting meds because stimulants raise your heart rate and they don't like you doing a lot of exercise on them. the short acting ones mean you would take them in the morning to get you through school and then you could do your sports and then you would have to take them again after sports so you could do your homework. the meds help out a lot and you'll notice almost right away that your improving. and remember that one medication doesn't work for everyone so it may take a few tries to get it right

I have never met a person with ADD/ADHD that could not be treated with a change in diet. the drug companies will probably disagree with me. your body is changing at this point in your life and you need to keep up. try getting more iron and potassium in your diet eat foods rich in vitamins and minerals .see a dietitian if your school offers one try to stay away from drugs if you can.The side affects are worse than the problem.

It is possible you have ADD/ADHD. It is also possible it is just a hormonal thing because you are a teenager. When they test you, they will ask you a bunch of questions and then have you take a test on the computer. It is a really long process. They tested my son and it took about 4 hours. The medicine will not harm your body. The doctors will do a blood test twice a year called a liver panel. This is because in VERY rare cases a few people will store the drug in their liver. VERY unlikely to happen to you and if it did they could just take you off meds and you would be ok. I would go ahead and get tested. You can ask your pediatrician or general practice doctor to refer you to a psychologist or psychiatrist. Also, nowadays they start you at the very lowest dose possible and move you up slowly. So, there is no need to worry that the meds will make you a zombie.

you could have it.I do.for years doctors said i have adhd but the last 2 doctors said i have bi poler so i could have both or eather or

get the test! and you definitely could have it. as far as medication, id recommend ritalin/concerta the most. adderal is a bit down on the list because of its side effects on your personality, and strattera made me sick.
