How Long Should I Lift Weights?

I'm 17, 5'10 and 140 lbs...I recently started working out to add some muscle to my weight and make me a better basketball player. My Plan consists of...

Monday: Lift weights, 2 sets of 10 on each body part
Tuesday: Aerobic and Basketball
Wednesday: Lift Weights
Thurs: Basketball
Friday: Weights
Saturday: Bball
Sunday: Weights

So is this the correct process, or do I need to change something up? I'm just concerned about losing speed, but I also wanna find a way to be strong so I can take on people bigger than me.

One person should never lift weights for more than about 45-60 minutes at one time. A particular muscle group should always have atleast one day of rest, preferably 2 days between workouts. You can lift weights every day if you like, as long as you rotate the muscle groups in a fashion that allows for that rest period. for example, work out chest on monday, legs on tuesday, biceps on wednesday, back on thursday, and so on.. OR you could do 2 major muscle groups at a time and have a longer resting period... back and triceps on monday, chest and biceps on wednesday, legs and shoulders on friday or something to that affect. Aerobic and Cardio is something that is a lot harder to answer for.. I personally know a lot of serious weight trainers that won't come near any cardio until they've gained a substantial enough mass and want to build definition.. Which is a whole different can of worms..

I've figured out that it's really not good to do things for a long time and not very often. When you lift weights that much, it'll make you get really bulky and when you get older that will be replaced by fat. So if you were me i would only lift weights about 3 or 4 times a week for about and hour and you'll become very muscular but, when you're older you won't get fat.
