Just starting to workout everyday, what should i expect?


it's been a week...i have worked out from last thursday-today, except for saturday and sunday...i do ellipticals 30 min a day and im starting to add in some weights...but i feel like im actually getting fatter...i think i look it too, especially in my abdominal area. i'm 5'6 134lbs...and i desperately want to get my body in tip top shape...what are some things i should expect before i see any results?? is weight gain followed by weight loss? bloat after exercising? please tell me everything you know! i'd appreciate it so much!

i dont expect to lose weight this soon im just curious as to what i should expect. my metabolism has been ruined by my eating disorder which i am finally overcoming :) and i eat a healthy diet..i dont like foods high in fat or calories...i would much rather eat fruits and veggies....

Drink lots of water...at least 64 oz. per day. You are starting to increase your metabolism. You didn't gain weight overnight and you won't take it off overnight.

Pace yourself and don't overdo the workouts. You'll be setting yourself up to fail. Do what you can and build on it a bit each time. When I started working out on a recumbent bike I could barely ride 5 minutes. I increased my time ONE minute each day regardless of how I felt. Within 2 months I was riding an hour at a time and the weight was melting off.

Eat a balanced , healthy diet. NO junk food, white bread, sugar, or alcohol. Eat plenty of raw fruits and vegetables and small cuts of lean meat. Eat fish (grilled or broiled) as often as you can.

A safe weight loss is 1% of your body weight each week. More than that is dangerous.

Don't forget to drink the water...fat stores toxins and when you burn fat you need to flush the toxins out.

Are you eating more while exercising? It is definately too early for results, but the exercising should be combined with a proper diet to get results. You should notice results in at least 6 weeks.

when you start to lose wait your stomach takes wierd shapes it'll fluxuate from you belly looking fat to your love handles stiking out more until you look the way you want to.

bah dunno, could be muscles forming under the fat makeing you look bigger. I would go to a gym for a little while. they will know alot more. then when you know how to do it quit. and work at home. swimming is the best though.

It's been a week! You didn't gain the weight in a week and you're not going to lose it in a week. It takes time!
Are you adjusting your food intake now that you're trying to get fit? Change your eating habits along with your new exerise program. Eat breakfast! It really IS the most important meal of the day!
