How can my spouse qualify for disability with Social Security?

He had ADD as child and as adult. He had meningitis as child which caused learning disabilities. He now has uncontrolled diabetes and chronic pain from multiple fractures from prior traumas. He cannot lift heavy objects or tolerate the heat. He has COPD. He did not pay enough quarters in to Socuial Security and my income would count against him for SSI (but we are still struggling with children and living expenses).

first off with disability it often winds up being about a two year battle with them. His ADD alone should get him it. Plus, if you get documents from the doctor about the rest of his conditions you will get it. There first letter will probably deny him although, appeal it and keep appealing it. In the end it is worth it because they have to send you a check from the time he applied once he is approved. My friend did it and even though it took her almost 3 years she got one heck of a check. She just kept fighting them. Appeal each and every time they say denied. In the end you will win just make sure you have doctors documentations of everything. |Keep plenty of extra copies around for every time you appeal it. And for the initial time you apply. Good luck

Go through a doctor & then a lawer to get it through because he cant work he will get it because of his health i know my grandmother gets it so please talk to a lawer then go from there

I'm sorry about your problems but in order for you to benefit from the "system" you might want to consider getting a divorce. I knew of a businees owner that had to do that in order to keep his business & have the state pay for his wifes nursing home care

Only two ways that I know of---
A. He would have to leave the household to get SSI.
B. He would have to prove he was disabled and not working at a substantial level(depends on amount of money he was making) in the past when he was insured for Soc Sec disability. Even though he may not be insured now for not paying enough quarters, this does not mean he was not insured at some point in the past(it is a possibility).

He has to have his medical records and a good Doctor to back him...and a good lawyer...I recently won my disability case and it took 4 years to do so...I recommend using a a law team by the name or "Binder and Binder"....They specialize in Social Security cases and will not charge you unless they win your case...They are awesome....Good luck to you and God Bless..

go to your nearest social sercurity location and apply in person, it seems u have nothing to hide anyway since s.s sends u to their own doctors for evalution anyway, so your husband can get benefits monthly

It is extremely difficult to qualify for SS disability, even when you have paid in for enough time. I really don't think they make an exception to this.

You might have to swallow your pride and get on Medicaid and other state aid.

I am going through social security now.
He may have to go to quite a few of there doctors. Everything has to be documented. I am ADHD we like to keep all paper!! So this should be easy.
He will have to go to the doctors for the piece of paper. Sounds dumb but everything needs to be documented! Hopefully papers were not ever thrown away! If he works this could go against him.

My son it took him about a month to get on. I was shocked!! He is also a child, maybe this helped?

Good luck
