Can my iced tea count toward water consumption?


I am trying to lose weight, therefore incorporating 64 oz of water per day into my diet. I can usually drink about 32 oz plain, but was wondering if i could count my tall glass of iced tea i drink every night with dinner? I use the Lipton Cold Brew tea bags and i dont add anything but ice to it. I dont like flavored waters, but plain water gets OLD.

I asked my Dr. about the same thing, because I don't like the taste of just plain water. It always seems to be missing something. And she told me that if I use a non caffinated tea, then it is perfectly fine. You can also use other things such as crystal lite pouches, or lemon.

Check the sugar content in your ice tea - some of them have just as much as pop! Apparently for every cup of caffeine you are suppose to drink an extra cup of water a day so this is something to consider as well. Try putting a wedge of lemon and/or lime in your water for added flavour or if you don't mind aspartame, crystal lite singles.

All I do is drink sweetened tea with lemon.I asked my doctor the same question and he said thats fine. water is water.Merry Christmas

only if it is decaffeinated, caffeine is a diuretic and does not count towards water. It also recommend that at least half of you water requirement is straight water

No it doesn't count unfortunately. You have to drink 64oz of plain water a day. I went threw the same thing and when I asked my nutritionist that is what I was told. Good luck.

Unfortunately no, tea makes you lose as much water as you drink of it because it is a natural diuretic. Still I understand about plain water getting old. You might try flavoring your water with Crystal Light or sugar free koolaid.

Normal teas ('ceylon' or black teas) have caffeine in them. Caffeine is a diuretic (makes you 'pee') which draws water out of your system which essentially would defeat the object... You could try herbal teas, but your best bet is to stick to mother nature's best.... water

Check your tea . You can flavor your water with a little fresh lemon hm very good, or a slice of orange if you like. avoid sugar, and Yes the water content counts.

It can count as water consuption, but I also boost your sugar and caffeine consumption... so, If it's only at dinner, and you drink water the rest of the day, there's no harm!!
