The pasta diet?


A friend of mines said if I eat plain pasta meaning none of that heavey sauce and cheese and mess I will lose weight. I may add seasonings but go very light on the salt. Has anyone else done this before and how much did you lose?

I use the "seefood" diet.. I see food and I eat it! LOL... Yeah, I know, it's an OLD joke, but then.... SO AM I!!

The ONLY way to lose weight is to consume fewer calories than you expend.

The best "lifetime" diet I have ever done was one published in Reader's Digest way back in the 1970's... so I can't refer to the exact issue and article. However, I do remember the basic principles and procedures:

1. Eat 3 meals and 2 snacks per day. The snacks consist of 1 "food" item (i.e. banana, cup of yogurt, COOKIE, whatever!) and a beverage. You MUST be consistant with the TIMINGS of these meals/snacks, so your body becomes adjusted to expecting the "fuel."

2. When you eat your meal, LEAVE at least ONE "spoonful" (forkfull) of food on the plate, and then THROW IT OUT! Why? We have a psychological habit of "cleaning our plates." We have to retrain our "psychies" that it is ALRIGHT to NOT finish ALL your food.

3. When eating your meals, take ONE fork/spoonful at a time, chew it COMPLETELY, place the fork/spoon DOWN while chewing, and then proceed with the next mouthful after swallowing the previous one. WHY? This actually SLOWS DOWN your eating TIME. It takes about 20 minutes for your stomach to send a message to your brain that says, "HEY... I'm FULL now! NO MORE!" By slowing down the eating process, you are actually allowing your stomach to more "accurately" tell your brain WHEN you are done. When people "gulp" or "shovel" their food down, they are "flooding" the stomach with food. When you flood the stomach in 10 mins, the stomach is still not "smart" enough to say to the brain, "HEY STOP IT!" So you keep eating and eating, and your stomach ends up (after 20 mins) with MORE than enough food to satisfy your NEEDS.

Oh... the meals can be ANY food AND ANY quantities! The snacks can be CAKE, or ICE CREAM, etc... there is NO limitations on what you can eat.

If you follow these basic principles, you WILL lose weight, as I did. Furthermore, you can use these rules throughout your lifetime and have no worries about restrictions or limitations on WHAT you eat. The reason most diets FAIL is because the diet is a DIFFERENT manner of eating, and when you lose the weight, you STOP that different manner, and go BACK to old, BAD habits. These rules are applicable to your lifetime. You don't STOP using them once you lose the weight. In fact, they will help you maintain your weightloss WITHOUT having to worry about going back to bad habits.

Oh, another thing... you don't need to exercise with this diet! WHY? Because it will "auto-adjust" with the level of activity that YOU do normally. Of course, as you lose the extra pounds, you will feel like being more active, but there is no requirement that you do so.

How SIMPLE is that?
