Why do people still still use.................?

That add 5lb per inch rule to guage weight?

Don't they realise it's completely outdated and not very accurate.

Basically it tends to underesimate the lean mass of shorter people and overestimates lean mass in taller people.

Plus it assumes everyone is built the same. As much as I dislike BMI, at least it gives range of acceptable weights.

That chart also uses small, medium and large body frame so you do get a suggested weight range At least the one I know of that is "outdated". No I can't direct you to a site because it is in a cookbook that is "older". But I am also thinking I saw one in a health book brought home from school before by my kids. I know this isn't the answer you wanted but it is from memory not Internet. If I used the older charts when I was younger, I was always under weight, Not the case anymore. Not that I am fat but I am in the so called comfort zone of modern charts.
