My husband has been bit by an insect and we have never seen this bug before...?

We don't know what this bug is but is there a website to find out what this bug is. It is brown and has a white stomach and a yellow behind. It has big feelers and about an inch long. It has sex legs. His finger is stinging and he hasn't had a allergic reaction to it yet but it just now happened. We need to know if we should worry if its poisonous or not because We just got married and I havent had the chance to add him to my insurance and he just got taken off his old plan. Where or how can we find out what this bug is?

PLease help i am very worried

In all honesty, your description is so vague that it is impossible for any of us to identify this bug. Is it a beetle? Wasp? True Bug? Fly? The only person who would have a good chance at identifying it is you because you are the only one who knows that it really looks like. Check out the dichotomous key posted above by another user. That is probably your best bet. If I could see a picture, I could most likely tell you exactly what it is, but your description alone only tells me that it is an insect. Sorry I cant help more. Being that this is an insect, if your husband was truely BIT by the insect, just watch it. He may have a mild histamine reaction, but I doubt he will have anything else. If it swells up a bit, pop some benadryl and just watch it for a few days. However, if he was STUNG, check it very closely. Humans react very differently to stings than bites. Chances are that since it has been a couple days now, if he hasnt reacted bad, he should be just fine. Once again, pop some benadryl and he should do alright.

See if this dichotomous key helps:

I don't think it takes you down to the species level, but it will tell you what order of insect it is and give you a place to start looking.

It's hard to use the key without seeing the bug, but I'm guessing it is one of the 'true bugs' from the Order Hemiptera. They have piercing mouths and come in lots of colors. Most have wings, but like with a beetle, you'd usually never find that out.

Oh, I forgot earlier--make a cornstarch (or flour if you don't have cornstarch) paste to put on it. This will help to suck the poison out if it is poisonous, or neutralize the acid if it is a nasty bite like fire ants have. And I don't think you need to worry too much--when something that small is capable of really harming a person, it usually gets famous--like black widow spiders. You never heard of this thing, so unless it was accidentally imported from some other country, it probably won't do anything but annoy your husband.

Allison,
if it's got 6 legs, at least it's not a spider.
wish i could help more!!!
please post what u find out & let us know...
kinda worried 'bout u guys.
