ADD/ADHD Questions?

I'm 19 and I think I might have ADD. I've been looking up stuff online and I match up with a lot of the symptoms and problems that people with the condition have.

I took a few of the tests online for people who think they might have ADD and I usually had about double the score required to have ADD. I do realize that these tests aren't an actual diagnosis of ADD, so what's a good way to get a real diagnosis? How much would it cost? I have a hard time with a lot of the things listed, and I want to do better especially now that I'm in college.

I always did well in school, and I never really studied. However, I didn't actually *learn* much. I kind of just memorized everything and forgot it afterwards.

Is there like a website where you can go that talks specifically to people who think they have ADD to give them more information? Most websites are based towards parents who think their kids have ADD

Thank you for anything.

Well, First I'd like to say hello :)

I had adhd growing up, childhood ADD/ADHD sometimes get's grown out of, which in my case proved true, in others it developes into Adult ADD.

Symptoms of Adult ADD, is having difficulty focussing, like to the instructor of your college classes, having a hard time paying attention to them, then afterwards relying on whatever is on the board for a general outline of the lesson.

Also focussing could also be impared by constant flooding of thoughts, meaning you may be focussed on something else, like homework, and eventually your mind somehow drifts off topic of homework to lets say swimming at the beach, or something related to the homework, depending on how much focus you lose lol, any form of ADD/ADHD has no cure, but is treatable, there is drugs (medical drugs) which help living a more focussed life.

Best thing to do would be to go to a psychiatrist, and get evaluated for ADD, once the test comes back that you do infact have it, they'll prescribe you pills and they should help you focus and stay on track.

I was on these pills for a while, they really do help, however they make you hungry.. since it brings up your metabolism I think, I remember having to take the pills with breakfast, or else later on in the day I'd get hungry at school.

Hope I helped somehow,
Russell J. Crevatas

I dont think some physciatrists work that much lol. I go to a mental health school and they said I have ADD I know I dont thoe lol. I can still concentrate the same when I dont take the meds. maybe see 2 physicrtists.sorry i cant spell that well. Report It

you need to go to your doc to get diagnosed for add, etc,it's no use taking online tests for this as if you need med for it your doc must find you eligible, not an online test, best wishes :)
