ADD. What does it mean? how can you tell that you have it?

Please, no wise cracks or jokes, this is serious.

I was talking to my friend and, who has a brother with ADD, and she said I might have it. I have a lot of trouble concentrating, Im scaterbrained and I have little organization. Im not that socially awkward, Ive got alot of friends, but she thinks I may have a very mild case, can someone who has a child with ADD, or maybe is a docter help me out here, I really dont want to have it.

Rtoups, Im fourteen and also in avery difficult private school! the thing is ive always been disorganized, scatterbrained and a daydreamer, but ive never had this much trouble concentrating before.

I could swear I have a mild case of it,but I am not affected by it much If I do.

I was diagnosed with ADD a few weeks ago.

I am 16. I go to a very tough private school and I am not described as hyper. Like you, I had trouble concetrating, daydreamed, was not organized, and my thoughts drifted. I had a fairly mild case.

Visit a doctor, who can run a test and see if you have it. He can then help prescribe medicine and you will notice an improvement in concentration.

Hope that helps!

This might sound silly but maybe you should try staying off dairy products for a few months & see if this helps. You might just be allergic to dairy. My friend is & so is her son - he has major ADD symptoms when he has dairy but is a perfect angel with no symptoms at all when he doesn't have dairy. Doctors told her it was ADD but after proven results with a natropath, he does not - just a food allergy.
I wish you all the best.
Or you might just not see the importance of being organised - maybe you need to learn it. At 14 who is organized?! And at 14, who is concentrating on stuff other than fun stuff? I was a bit scatterbrained too as a teenager - not now tho - I grew out of it. Give yourself a break.

ADHD symptoms include:

Involuntary distractibility (lifelong)
Involuntary short attention span (lifelong)

Possible resource. Good luck.
