Getting help for ADD?

Ok, so recently I've been going online checking about ADD and according to the sites I've gone I have most of the symptoms and all for ADD and I am more than sure that I have it myself.
The problem is that I have asked my parents and my sister that I have ADD but they completely ignore me or don't pay attention.

I'm 17 so is it possible to go and get the check up myself? I need as much information about ti as I can, such as where to go and stuff.

The problem lies within books. I can get books to help but it wont be long until I quit on them. I am not a big fan of books, even those that help you improve. It wont be long until I just stop reading the book

In some states, "children" over 12 can get health care independently of their parents, on the condition that their parents would abuse them if they found out about it. At 17, your doctor may just see you on your own.

Still, you are not dependent on medication, for help. There are LOADS of books on helping yourself with ADD, in local libraries, or your school psychologist or counselor can provide you with handouts, or you can get plenty of info. from CHADD (Children & Adults with ADD), I'm sure for free.

There are many self-help techniques to treat the symptoms.
Do that for now, and at 18 you can get meds, if they seem indicated.

In addition, you can go independently to your high school principal & request a Section 504 meeting. That means, the teachers need to offer you "reasonable accommodations", under the ADA, to help you achieve adequately in school (that means, a C average). Print this out & take it to your school principal. If you are refused the meeting & help, it may be illegal for the school, so they'll be motivated to help you!

Until you are 18, you need your parents OK. Talk to your school nurse and/or counselor. Take online questionairs and print it out to show. This will assist in getting the adults to see what you already know. Concrete evidence which is ore difficult to ignor.
Good Luck!

Just pay attention, instead of taking drugs. ADD people need meditation not medication.

yea, you could to the doctor to get a perscription for Aderall. 15 milligrams. It worked for me.

as a professional comedian, i would prescribe self-medication

It may be a temporary condition due to stress, don't worry. From http://www.foradd.com/
