OCD, ADD, please help? |
hi everyone. i was diagnosed with depression and an anxiety disorder about 2 years ago. I was on different medications which improved my symptoms but never really broke through completly. I think I may have obsessive compulsive disorder or ADD. I used to have rituals when I was younger, but stopped them around 15. Im not obsessed about germs or anything, I just use the rituals to control anxiety and stress. Like, if Im stressed out, I try to think of nice scenery or nice music to calm me down. The anxiety got worse when a relative died and about 4 years ago I fell in love with a girl at my high school who ive never actually talked to only made eye contact with. Since then, I graduated from HS and ive never stopped thinking about her. I dont stalk her or anything, and I dont want to hurt her, I just cant stop thinking about her. Everyday I do, and I HATE IT! do you think I have ADD or OCD... what should i do. thank you everytime I see her i get mad because it reminds me how pathetic I am because im so obsessed with her. i dont know what to do... Your doctor may be able to refer you to someone who can help, if you are unable to deal with this yourself. Avoid coffee and caffeine products: Coke & Pepsi (unless decaffeinated), green & regular tea, cocoa & chocolate, Red Bull, Mountain Dew & Excedrin. Also Aspartame products: Equal, Nutrasweet & some diet colas & sodas. Read labels. When you find yourself thinking about her, say to yourself forcefully, aloud if alone: "I know this tactic, GO AWAY FOR A WHILE!!!" You might want to use: "ruse, ploy, trick, game, or scam", instead of "tactic". Most people will eventually reprogram their thinking, but you must persist with it. Open yourself to the possibility of a new relationship with someone else, and make efforts in that direction, from chat rooms to dating sites, to going out and becoming used to talking to girls, telling them your name, that they caught your eye, and asking whether they have a steady boyfriend, and if not, would they be interested in going somewhere, say, next weekend, or if they have, give them a card with a red heart and your phone number, and say that if it doesn't work out; to call. Really not easy, I hate to have it too, because, when I feel that I'm loosing this, I have to face, that's controlling me even more. It appears stronger, and is about symmetry, nothing can be out of their place and if its so, I find a way to put it on the righ place, even if it's not at my home. Pain in my neck; there are times, that I cry and/or feel depressed because of this, and the worst is the fact, that if we say that we have this disorder, they will tell us that we need to go to the church, to find GOD or you, they'll say that we need to be strong because that actually a silly thing that will go away while the time goes. It's not that simple, and a endless struggle - it's like that I have to fight with myself, because I am my own enemmy. Hi, |
