Attention deficit disorder, ADD, your tendencies? and mine?

i'm 19, i think i may have adult ADD...maybe mild. here are some things:

are these normal within people or more ADD tendencies? these are some of my "quirks" please share yours if you have ADD (clinically diagnosed)

*i cannot listen to directions, instructions, it's better when i read it. when you tell me directions and instructions, it's too overwhelming

*i cannot listen to lyrics of a song without getting distracted when i force myself to! i remember multiple times when i want to just sit there/lie in my bed listening to lyrics of a song, because i really like listening to them and relating to them, but i can't go through the whole song without forgetting what i'm supposed to do, i start thinking about other things...

*i can't listen in lectures...i always daydream, i think about all sorts of things.

*however, one on one conversations i'm pretty good at when i'm an ACTIVE PARTICIPANT, if you tell me a story that's longer than 2 minutes, i start to block things out, and i end up

having to pretend i heard your story, it's kind of bad because my friends would be telling me stories of their problems, what their S/O did to them...and my mind start wandering off and i have to give them false advice =(

*i am good with reading some fiction books. however, when it comes to other books, boring books especially, my mind wander like NO OTHER...i don't understand the material, i reread it and it doesn't work. i think reading things faster helps a little....

*i've tried adderall...it helps, but then it's helped ppl without ADD too

Go to a professional psychologist to have a diagnosis. Self diagnosis is very difficult at the best of times.

You have heard that the psychologist that diagnoses himself has a fool for a patient.

What about a patient that acts as his own psychologist?

You don't need medication, just disregard the mind. Mind is thoughts.

Excessive thinking happens because you're avoiding what is already here.

You don't need pills just be here now. You are the here and now.

Sounds like ADD to me....but if medication didn't help you there are many others on the market that do. You should see your doctor.

You may be suffering from one or more ailments - and not necessarily ADD. You should probably seek professional guidance.

I do have a son with adult ADD. He does much, much better if he simply drinks a couple of cups of coffee. Soda won't work... but you can use cream and sugar. :-)
