Since I was a little girl I had bad memory. Now I am 32. My symptoms are restlessness, lack of concentration, boredom. I realize that I am slower in learning and memorizing than other people. I am beginning to think I have a soft form of ADD. I haven麓t been diagnosed yet, however I was diagnosed with Depression and Anxiety. I don麓t know if the symptoms belong to these two illnesses instead of to ADD. Can anybody tell me if I suffer for ADD, what are their symptoms and medications? shoooooooo everyone's so caught up in labels! diagnoses come in handy for insurance purposes... what needs to happen more is for people to identify the sources of their pain and use their strengths to overcome their obstacles... we in the West pathologize everything... it's scary! in developing countries, mental health issues are dealt with so differently but we bow to the whims and fancies of the medical profession.... don't worry so much about the labels... figure out (a good therapist can help if you don't have the get up and go to do it yourself) who you want to be - what are your values, your principles, what motivates you and get moving on a track that suits your abilities... we are not all equally abled is all..........
the reality of meds for ADD and lots of other stuff too is that they mask the symptoms... they are not curative... they help hide the weakness and then they wear off so you take them again and so on... today's meds can be dangerous, even lethal... if you don't start, you don't have to stop... often the cure is worse than the disease... meds have their place, sure but psych meds can be deadly.. the proof is in the research but it's not greatly advertised
the site below is pretty comprehensive about ADD... I have lived with it for 55 years and have two adopted kids with it so I can claim an idea of what's important to know
don't give your power over to your mood(s).... take back control... shake a mental stick at your weaknesses and tell them they will not run your life... make yourself your project and inch by inch, baby step by baby step, your hope will grow and fuel you for your journey... remember... you are the product of your reality and your reality is a result of your experience.... how you choose to experience your life is a huge determinent in your success as a person Well as a previous suffer of depression and current one of anxiety disorders these symptoms do actually sound like they could fall in those categories rather than ADD but then again these symptoms from what I heard also are consistent with ADD as well. Basically you should see a doctor or shrink for an expert opinion! |
