Torn acl.. not good for senior football season?

im a junior in highschool and i am a student athlete in football , and a few weeks ago i was playing basketball and my right leg just seemed to slip out right under me and i had twisted it and heard a pop, i was in severe pain as i couldent even walk and after many ice sessions i finally went to an orthapedic.
he tested my leg with a deflection device
and determined that i had 5mm of deflection on my left knee(my good one) and he stoped at 20 mm on my right , this of which means i have a torn or damaged acl.. i was in complete shock because i was able to walk on it well.

and now here i am a junior in highschool workin my *** off inorder to get a scholarship in my loved passion , a torn acl has just screwed up my hopes.. does anyone out gone through this or have any suggestions on getting back on my feet

ACL's take a long time to heal, but with proper care and rehab you should be ok. First and most important, you want to baby that knee for a long time. No sports, no high impact exercise like running, jumping, or weight training with the legs. Wear a knee brace all day, every day. If it's swollen or hurts bad, you want ice treatments several times a day. If not, its time to use heat treatments to increase blood flow.
Go to the pharmacy and buy an electric heat wrap, and apply heat a few times a day, for about 20 minutes. Before bed is always a good time to do this. Take ibuprofen if it hurts, which is an anti-inflammatory. If your high school has an athletic trainer, consult them on how and when to begin physical therapy on the knee. If you don't have an AT, you may want to consult a sports therapy center. You'll be fine if you treat it right. Good luck.

I never had this but i work in that field and its hugh surgery and lots of healing and hard work like lots of phyical therapy, but i really dont know your injury due to your knee but it will take awhile and it will never be the same again cause you will treat it like its always a bad knee and it really is.
