How long did it take for anyone out there to recover from a meniscus tear?

i had a large bucket handle meniscus tear without any acl damage amazingly. my doctor says it will take 5 months to fully recover and its been about 3 weeks since my scopy surgery. any experience on how long itll take before i can play sports again?

Last year I tore my medial meniscus and my ACL. I had surgery December 2005. I am still not 100%, but am getting much better with the things I can do now. I shredded my meniscus and they basically had to tack the pieces they could together.

I know my recovery is longer with the ACL replacement I had, but I hope my answer was helpful someway.
