Should I see a doctor? (Sport injury.)?

During a drill in soccer I hurt my left knee; a stocky girl ran into it and all her weight was thrown into it.. I wobbled off, then started walking shortly after, but it continued to hurt. Almost four hours later, and it hurts more. The pain is all around my knee, both sides and the top, and the lower pain goes through my shin. It hurts to bent my knee, mostly on the outside (it's my left). I'm really scared - my friend just recently had her ACL torn. But I hate doctors, can't afford it, and don't want to blow this out of proportion. Right now I'm icing it, but keep moving the ice pack because it's not big enough. There's no bruising, and minimal swelling. Also, our second game of pre-season is tomorrow! Any advice?

does your school have an athletic trainer? if so i strongly suggust you see him/her...if there is no trainer available and your knee still doesnt feel better by tomorrow you should probably visit a doctor..if they can catch a problem before it gets worse it will be worth the expense (it could save you from much greater expences in the future due to more serious injuries) hope it gets better..i know how frusterating injuries can be

Yes

Take it from me.....it is worth the trip to the doctor. I hurt my knee running down a set of stairs at work and thought nothing of it. My knee hurt for weeks and I was training to run a 6km race, and I continued with my normal training. By the end of the race my knee was killing me and I couldn't bend it....like you minimal swelling just pain.

Well I couldn't take it anymore so I went to the doctor. They referred me to a Sports Doctor who got me in with a Physical Therapist. It turns out that over that long period of time after I injured my knee I started to lose muscle mass because I was overcompensating for my injury. My muscles weren't keeping my patella in its track which was causing it to rub against my bones. It has been months and still I have not fully recovered from my injury.

The Physiotherapist gave me some amazing stretches and excercises to get my knee back, and they are working wonders! The knee is such a fragile part of our bodies and we need to take care of it. PLEASE take my advice and go see a doctor because it could make your healing a lot quicker!

I have included a link to an amazing article on knee injuries and some suggested courses of action.

I hope this helps and happy healing!
