How can I help my boyfriend lose weight?

My boyfriend is 5'10 and very near 300 lbs. We were recently told that he has signs of diabetes, he always has heartburn, very low self-esteem, but he is the sweetest man you will ever meet. The thing is that it's very hard to get him movtivated not the first week or the second but as time goes by he loses interest in trying to change his eating habits, he feels that everything is against him. He works outside from 6am - 7pm, there is no way to prepare his foods at lunch or eat in between due to his job so he usually takes just a sandwich & chips for lunch, by the time he gets home he's starved and I feel it's hard to control portions. The only exercise we can do together is walk, but it doesn't seem to be enough. In high school he tore his ACL, broke his wrist and fractured his ankles. The local pool is closed on the weekends which is the only time he has off and seemed to be my last option. I love him so much and I know he really wants to change but what other options are there?

I once dated a very obese man, and wondered this myself. In the end, I realized that he did not want to change. There was nothing I could do for him, he had to want to do it himself. We ended up breaking up, because he refused to do anything to change his unhealthy habits and that is not how I wished to live my life. Hopefully, your boyfriend really wants to change his lifestyle not just to please you, but for his own health and well being. In the end, if he doesn't really want to do it for himself, then nothing you do will help him.

That being said, there are some things you can do. Number one, of course, is to be very supportive of him. He will have bad days now and then, and you both have to work through it.

The best place to start is to look at his current routine and pick a few small changes at a time so the change is not too drastic. This is not a temporary diet, but a lifestyle he should be able to really live with in the long run.

Does he eat breakfast? Studies have shown that people who eat breakfast are able to lose weight and keep it off. I recommend a low calorie/high fiber/high protein/low sugar cereal with skim milk. I like cinnamon shredded wheat or quaker oatmeal squares. Also include some fruit, like a banana.

For lunch, he currently eats a sandwich and chips? Does he bring it or buy it from a place like Togos or Subway? Either way, can he switch to wheat bread instead of white? Switching to low fat mayo or using mustard instead will save a lot of calories. Also, skip the cheese. Turkey is a good lean source of protein, but lean ham or roast beef isn't all that bad. Just stay away from meatballs or balogna or other fatty deli meats. Also, put more veggies on it, like lettuce, tomato, and other things. Instead of chips, could he have an apple or something like that? At least choose a lower fat variety of chips, such as sunchips or those Baked potato chips.

If he is starved when he gets home, then I'd say he needs to have a snack in the afternoon. Ideally, something with protein. Maybe he could bring a protein bar to work? There are a bunch of good ones out there by South Beach Diet, SlimFast, and Special K has a new protein bar as well.

For dinner, try fixing some grilled chicken, veggies, and brown rice or something similar. It needs to contain lean protein, some kind of veggies (ask him which are his favorites so he'll actually eat them), and a complex carbohydrate with lots of fiber. Also, drinking water instead of soda will make a HUGE difference.

As for the walking, I would say that's an excellent start. It's something you can do together and get into the habit of daily exercise. If he has injuries, it might not be a good idea to push him too much too soon. Maybe try to increase the speed or duration of the walks a little every week. You might try signing up to walk a 5K race in the spring, so he has a goal in mind to work towards. Consult a doctor before you do anything too strenuous though.

HE COULD PACK SOME CHEESE STICKS, YOGURT, MEAT, NUTS, THINGS WITH PROTEIN, THEN HE WON'T BE SO STARVED. SEX IS A GOOD EXERCISE ALSO. AND KEEP WALKING EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE STORES.

Have sex with him 5 times a day ....... This will burn the crap out of him :D

He needs a challenge. People stagnate without goals or something to work on. Difficult or not, perhaps you can find something to train for together. It could be as simple as a local 10K race, or a walkathon for charity, hiking a mountain, whatever... just NOT focused on weight loss. Use the goal as a means to an end (weight loss).

-He needs to learn to focus on eating 4-6 smaller meals throughout the day, instead of "three square." Pack more food, in smaller segments to be eaten through the day.
-See what resources the doctor can steer his way. Often nutritionists, physical therapy, even sports therapy is covered.
-Aim low - 2-3 pounds per week. It shouldn't hurt, if you get that through food substitution and walking.
-Give him cheat meals weekly. Pizza and beer on Fridays, whatever...
-Encourage him to stay in motion. If he's not sitting, he's helping the situation and improving his health.
-Stay positive and don't nag.
-See if he'll keep a journal, and stick with it.
-See if there are meetings locally to join, or gain support from.

It's tough with his work schedule, but if he is serious about living his life happily, something has to change. He CAN do it, but he has to resolve to make it a lifestyle change.

There is a healthy and natural no diet no exercise weight loss plan that is easy to use and has a money back guareentee. It is called STACK and you do not eat or buy special foods nor do you skip meals. I have lost and I am still losing and getting my life back after 45 years. Good luck and you are a great support for your boyfriend.

Hello,

Have you ever tried cleansing? Cleansing works by cleansing your body of all the harmful environmental toxins. Fat clings on to the toxins so by cleansing the toxins from your body you lose weight naturally.

Isagenix has an excellent cleansing program available. I personally lost 11 pounds in 11 days and my friend lost 15 pounds in 11 days.

Hi,
I've tried all different diets, and the weight loss is only temporary. I finally tried diet pills on the market are made from Hoodia. I saw this stuff on ABC News. It's all natural and safe, and it works! My wife took it for a month and dropped 20 pounds. I took it for a month and lost about 13 (but I didn't exercise).

I bought the natural hoodia from this website: http://www.alllsite.info/free-diet-pills... . I checked the web site address so I can post it here and I saw they're running a promotion now to get a free 2 week sample for only $4.97! I'm going to order this supply for my wife and give it to her for Christmas =)
