Does anyone know how much glucosamine/chondroitin I should give my dog to help heal a torn ligament? |
My terrier (18lbs) has torn her acl ligament. I've found on the web that glucosamine/chondroitin helps to heal this problem, but I can't find any information about how much to give her. My vet doesn't know (I'm from a small town and the local vet tends to prescribe pain medicine rather than vitamins). Does anyone know where I can find this out? I am an alternative medicinal therapist and i can tell that if you go to the sites 'alternative medicine' then type in veterinary you should come up with what you are looking, i do know that there is a pet section, I;ve seen it. Child's dosage may be OK. Have you tried hot and cold packs to alleviate the pain? Maybe you could email the company, just a thought. Whilst most people say not to give human vitamins etc to animals I have successfully treated abscesses with garlic and cold liver oil in my cat...hope you pet recovers soon. |
