Knee Injury but Mom Says Can't go to the Doctor. Help me out Please!? |
Last year actually during October, I had hurt my left knee and had gotten an MRI which showed something wrong with my meniscus, strained my MCL, and I partially tore my ACL. I had gone to physical therapy, and they couldn't really figure out what to do because I was in only a little bit less pain after several weeks of therapy. My physical therapist decided to take a break of two weeks to see if therapy was causing pain. My mom never let me go back. The pain has lessened over the year to occasional flare ups. A week ago while working out, I was lunging and it suddenly cracked. The pain was so bad I had to stop. The pain faded a little bit for the next couple of days because of medicine, but now the pain has graduated to wear I cannot put weight on it. It hurts on my medial side like last year. Meniscal tears are prone to flare ups on occasion. However, it might be worth it to have the surgeon check you out again if the pain does not subside. There is a possibility that further damage ensued. Most youths do have a better ability to heal than adults, but the fact that you feel your pain has worsened in the last few days may demonstrate a further progression in the condition. My advice would be to rest and ice for now...and follow up with the doctor if it does not begin to improve again. That way you can show your mom you tried to use conservative methods to help this heal. I am assuming that you are a child. Go to the school nurse on Monday. Your mom said no to physical therapy, but I think you need to at least check it up with another MRI to see how it's going. Just tell her that you're afraid you made it worse and that you wanted to check up on it to see how it is. Until then, try to stay off of that knee as much as possible. 1. Your mom is wrong in saying theres nothing a dr can do. Its called going to a KNEE dr who knows their stuff and the dr will let you know if you need surgery. i am telling you yes, get your knee fixed, Tell your mom to Look up ACL, MCL and meniscal injuries. and tell her how your knee is bothering you. also You suffered a unhappy triad- that is when a person has a Torn acl with a torn MCL and meniscus. Where do you live? i may be able to help you to see a good knee dr. |
