I had a knee injury? |
i injured my knee about a week ago and was told that i tore my ACL, then i went back a few days later and they said that i tore my MCL... i have to go for a MRI on tuesday but i have noticed today that my leg keeps feeling like it asleep... my knee seemed like it had been getting better until today... i am having more pain today and the swelling is coming back... i've been doing the RICE method, as i don't know anything else to do... but what i'm wanting to know is way does my leg feel like it is going to sleep and my foot hurts? is it anything to worry about? I had a knee injury, well it still bothers me today and i had surgery...I would ask the doc for Motrin and a few painkillers...The Motrin will help with the swelling and the painkillers will let you sleep...Here's what i do...You know those rice bags that go around your neck, shaped like a half moon...It works perfect to wrap around the knee...I heat it in the microwave for two minutes and oh if feels good on there...Your injury is a week old, so ice probably isn't going to help you any...Hopefully the MIR shows something, so at least you know what it is, to bad they couldn't do it right away...Elevation will help, but what ever you do, even when your sleeping, do whatever to keep your two knees from coming into contact, especially after the surgery if you have one....Good Luck... I hope you knee feels better soon...Take care of your self (((HUGS))) Report It Just elevate it, and put a magnet off the refrigerator on it. you could go to the GP -wear a support bandage and use the RICE method it will help -ACL injuries takes ages to heal, so be prepared to rest it for ages. It will get better in time. Brufen helps if you are not allergic and not asthmatic Could be due to pressure on the nerves and reduced blood flow in the leg caused by swelling. i got water in my knee when i was like 12/13 and it hasnr recoverd since and last year it got infected Two people had knee injury in my family, and apparently knee caps can be prone to pemanent damage. Thier knees hurt to this day. Then I was the third family member to have a knee injury (not on a motor bike), but was told by doc that the direction of impact had not damaged it. It did hurt like hell for a few months, but permanent recovery was outcome. I think the permanent damage involves tear. It does repair, but not as good as new. I hope the info is accurate. However if it is serious enough that you are getting MRI, then you should really be asking your consultant this question. This may seem off topic but it works on fresh injuries better than on old ones. I rarely get to talk to people with fresh injuries that's why the title reads as it does. Avoid the sun or use sunscreen for one. Either of these will work. I had stitches on my forehead and used vit. E oil and it isn't ... I had both my ACL's replaced. It's a tough recovery but my knees are better than ever. Much stronger and I don't have to hold the railing when I walk down stairs. Research your do... Hi Ra, You can get a exercise bike this is great for movement, and giving a little strength. Buy a stepper. This will be slow until you get your strength.
