Mederma OR Vitamin E on Old Surgery Scar?

Hi. I had an ACL reconstruction surgery close to 4 months ago. I have many small scars and one 1 inch long scar from the surgery. I really want an effective way to reduce the scar's appearance.

I have heard of Mederma and pure Vitamin E used for scar healing. Would either of these work for an old scar like mine? Which one is more effective? I know where I could get Mederma, but where could I find Vitamin E? I'm wondering especially of Mederma's effectiveness because I saw this answer to another question about the ointment:

If there are other options as well, please let me know of those as well.

Thanks for any info you can give me.

The scar most likely will not shrink much but it can fade. Avoid the sun or use sunscreen for one. Either of these will work. I had stitches on my forehead and used vit. E oil and it isn't noticeable anymore. So my preference for all scars is vit. E. You can get vit. E oil anywhere that cells vitamins. ie Walmart, CVS, Walgreens etc. It isn't that expensive and I'm sure cheaper than Mederma.

anything with coconut in it

Here is my suggestion you see cells changes every 8 months, and the old cells are replaced by new one and , you need to ask why scars are still there? My suggestion is you need to apply oil for skin on that area and rub it with your thumb for 5 minutes or more everyday so that scars will disappear in 8 months time.

The Body Shop carries a line of Vit E products! U may also find this forum discussion on scars interesting: http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post...
