Cardio excersizes with a knee injury? |
I am getting surgery on my left kne soon because of a torn ACL. I cannot participate in any sports I play, or run. Swimming and water running are two classic, non-impact workouts for recovery. The water running actually involves treading water in the deep end by using a running motion. Further on in the recovery (after at least a month) cycling can be used. If you are new to these forms of exercise, I recommend getting a heart rate monitor (less then $50 for a basic one) so you can gauge your effort level. Try the elyptical trainer. It should be easy on your knee. If you feel ANY pain; stop immediately. |
