P.S. I'm an athlete

Hi, Mosmits!

You are obviously serious about flourishing physically. Well done!

If you are getting complete proteins and spreading their intake over 5 or 6 (smaller) meals daily, your protein intake is fine. Your carb intake is also fine.

However, please ensure that the carbs you are ingesting are natural and unprocessed (unrefined).

I usually recommend aiming to lose 1 to 2 pound of fat per week. However, because of your knee problem you are restricted in terms of your cardio and strength training.

Therefore, if you are able to discover an optimific exercise routine for you, you may be able to lose 1/2 to 1 pound of fat per week.

With respect to strength training, I recommend that you adopt a program similar to the one Charles Poliquin advocates in his book the GERMAN BODY COMP PROGRAM. It should be available in any good library.

If it is not in your library, it's easy to order from any bookstore. It's a current paperback. It is possible to lose fat through diet and strength training alone (with no or minimal cardio).

Just be guided by your physician or by knee pain. You probably won't be able to do everything Poloquin recommends until you recover from your surgery.

With respect to mild cardio, walking works well. Again, be guided by your physician or by knee pain. You may be able to do more walking if you walk more slowly for longer periods.

Alternatively, you may be able to find a different aerobic exercise that will work better for you between now and July

You could also try non-weight-bearing exercise such as swimming, but it is likely to be less effective than weight-bearing exercise for fat loss and it will interfere with your strength training.

For a list of alternatives, I have listed a free Internet resource at the bottom of this reply. This will give you the information you need for cardio alternatives and further information about strength training.

I hope this helps you, Mosmits.

All my best wishes

You, sir, are on the fast track to getting a kidney stone. Have fun with that. You'd better be drinking at least 2L of water a day.

You can always tell these low-carb, no-carb dieters. Their breath smells like rotten apples as the ketone byproducts of the protein builds up, and then as sure as the day is long--they develop kidney stones.

Keep up the heavy weight work; that will help eat up some of those proteins. Try doing a low- or no-impact cardio exercise, like the exercise bike or an eliptical (if you can manage).

too much!

Listen, you need to talk to your doctor about what you can and can't do. He knows what's best for your health. Under ANY weight loss program, the goal is always to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. Slow is best. It gives your body a chance to get used to your program, and won't stress your body out. Here's a site that's free and has lots of exercise demo's you can try:

This site is highly recommended - the free E-book they offer is a great kickstart when you're trying to lose weight.

I would suggest a cleansing diet. I did this and lost 12 pounds and 19 inches in 9 days. I continued and lost 29 pounds in a month. I like the program since it works by giving your body nutrition through protein shakes with digestive enzymes and vitamins and then cleansing out the toxins. We get toxins in our bodies from pesticides, preservatives, water, pollution, medications, food additives etc鈥? These toxins enter our bodies and get stored in our fat cells. To shrink the fat, we need to get rid of the toxins through cleansing. The program also has a natural diet pill to help your metabolism and curb cravings. It works and it works fast. My skin has improved from the cleansing. It is pricey but worth it! I think cleansing is really important to health and weight loss.
