IS this Surgery Probably Major?

I have a alomost completely torn ACL its is stretched out probably as far as it can, and I have a membraine inside my menescus. can some one fill me in with some info. on this?
like any orthopedics out there?

I have been wearing a knee brace for a while now because I can't have the surgery till I quit growing and My knee has gave out mulitiple times now usually if I jump even if only a inch off the ground, when I squat down if I go to come back up my knee pops really loud and when im walking ever now and then it will pop every time I bend my knee.
My doctor said that the pain is coming from the membrane.

You cannot have reconstructive ACL surgery until your growth plates in your bones have fused and that doesnt happen until around 14-15 yrs old. The reason is that in the process of reconstructing your ACL the surgeon has to drill through the thigh bone and shin bone a small amount in the area of the growth plate, and if they did that while you were still growing then you would end up with 1 leg longer than the other. The drilling is to anchor the ACL graft, which is another piece of tissue usually from one of the tendons in your knee that acts like your ACL. The surgery is done under general anesthesia, meaning you are asleep, takes under 2 hrs, and the physical therapy after starts in the first week after surgery and lasts for 3-4 months. If you have further questions feel free to message me.

I don't know the details of the surgery but my friend had the same and she was recoving for a long time torn ligaments in the knee take a good while to recover from. She had a knee brace on for a solid 8 months. Here is a really good website about ACL injuries. http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/aclrepai...

It is not a major surgery in comparative terms, such as a cardiac surgery. It is a common ortho procedure that is done under general anethesia. The time is 1-2 hour. you will be out of the hospital the next day. The problem is your rehab. Daily activities will be restricted and difficult for several months and any athletic activities for up to a full year. It hurts, sorry.
