I want to get off my pain meds?

I had a really bad accident 2 years ago that has left me with an almost completely torn ACL in my right knee and 3 herniated discs. I have gone to my Ortho and Neurosurgeon and they have told me my only option is open back surgery. I am 28 and think it is too risky to do that surgery. I was started on vicodin but they did nothing so i was upgraded to Percocet 5 4x a day. When I told them they werent lasting 6 hours and needed more a day, they put me on percocet 7.5 4x a day and I hate it. I want them to put me back on Percocet 5, 6x a day. But, I dont want to take these pills at all. The pain is excrutiating. When I get out of bed the first thing I do is take a pill just to be able to get moving. I hate how my life is going now. any suggestions on what I can do or take to take the pain away that wont kill my liver or me?

You should have the surgery-I had 2 blown discs 15 years ago when I was 25,and was on all kinds of meds, but the surgery will be alot of help!!!!!You should try to get on oxycontin or roxicodone it has the same narcotic, but with no Tylenol-so you will be sparing your liver!!!

I think you should have the surgery. It's probably a lot less risky than the pain meds.

I think you should try an alternative therapy, I recommend you see an acupuncturist for your problems. many times acupuncture can help the problems you have. It's well worth trying another modality before going with surgery. It's quite possible you may have to end up with surgery, but always better to check different options.
