ACL Post-OP?

I recently had an ACL reconstruction (about 5 weeks ago). They also removed my medial meniscus because it was basically shredded. This was the second time I tore my ACL, and the second surgery I had. However, the first surgery was questionable...I don't think the procedure done was realistic. I was wondering if anyone wants to share their own stories or personal experiences with me, hopefully successful. Therapy is going good, but motivation would definately help. Thanks!

I just had ACL surgery 3 weeks ago today. I had no pain, and was walking 4 days after surgery. I saw my physical therapist twice, on the second time he told me he was amazed at how fast I was recovering. He said I was back to my normal ROM already and that he wouldnt have to see me for a month since I had progressed so quickly. My best opinion would be to do what the doctors tell you, dont do anything that hurts, keep up with the physical therapy, and keep yourself motivated. I would aim high. Dont forget to ICE your knee, you can never ice it too much. =]

umm i dislocated and broke my kneecap, just had surgery yesterday to put everything in plce and take out the broken piece, i hope it heals up, good luck to you

I wish yo ugood luck, If you want to know more about ACl injuries ect, or wna tto know about my knees, Go to knee geeks forum and look int he cruciate section (YuliaNichya would be the name to look for.

I'm 46 Years old and this was my experience:
I tore my ACL about 18 months ago playing hockey. Had surgery about 13 months ago. I did rehab for 5 months post surgery and was back playing roller hockey just 5 1/2 months.
After 6 months of roller hockey and continued workouts I'm back playing floor hockey without any pain. Believe me, floor hockey can be brutal on the knees but everything is fine right now.
Your in that period in rehab right now where you're starting to get some results but not as much as maybe you where thinking. You have to set a goal and push yourself and your therapist. I challenged my PT to come up with new challenging activities to test me. We actually had fun. My goal was to skate again in 6 months and I was going to do everything I could to achieve that goal. So pick your own goal and go for it ! Best of luck.
