Question about ACL Reconstruction.? |
I completly tore my ACL and a few other ligaments in my knee which should heal on thier own. My question is what procedure to use. I am torn between a Pateller harvest out of my other knee and the Allograft from a cadaver. I am just not sure what to do. I know that the allograft is less surgury but will it be as strong? The bone pateller bone is more surgury and more painful but i hear it is stronger. Does the pateller heal itself or is it just scar tissue? My knee is not really swollen anymore, just a bit tender. I'll guess the you've discussed this with your orthopedic physician. My physician was a leading sports medicine expert in my area. He didn't even mention the use of cadaver material (of which I knew anyway). Think about it, do you want some other person's dead tissue in your body, or your own? My physician harvested out of the same knee as my ACL reconstruct. Yeah, it is more painful but I preferred to use my own tissue. Though once they "borrow" tissue from the knee, it can't be harvested again. i understand where ur coming from, but for me as a 21 year old, i feel that you at this age, ur too young to sacrifice ur other body parts. With medical advancements and technology, donor acl is just as reliable. Report It |
