Partial acl tear HELP!?

i have a 50% partial tear of the ACL. i am 14, and i play volleyball, basketball, softball, and do wrestling. i have to have surgrey on my knee cap already (somekind of release and tighten thing) and i was wondering if i should have the ACL reconstructive surgrey. I mean from what i have read i should, but at the same time i dont really know. any opinons would be appriciated. thanks so much.

I think you should, Jes. As an athlete, if you hold back, it'll only get worse and you'll suffer the consequences later.

Good luck and get well. =)

DAMN your fine az hell in that pic!

This is not a matter where you should depend on what others think, because what other think does not matter. They do not have to live with your knee, but you do. And those others have no medical training, or little, that would help them advise you correctly. What matters is what is right for you. And that depends on what you plan to do with your knee for the rest of your life.

A reconstruction of an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a major knee operation, and you and your parents should discuss this at length with the orthopedist. Your orthopedic surgeon has had years of training and experience in dealing with injuries such as yours, and if you are going to ask anyone for advice, he or she is the one to ask.

Yes definetly, as time passed it will only get worse and if you wait until it gets worse it will only keep you out of playing sports longer than it would now. I say get it now its better for you
