Knee injury and ACL question?

I had a injury playing football. I went get an MRI, the doctor told me it was a "partial ACL" and something about a bone being smashed in. I want to know what does he mean by partial ACL.

a partial tear of your anterior crucient ligament

what happened was your knee was knocked inward, and the ligament partially ripped. hard to recover from - good luck

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is the most commonly injured of the major knee ligaments. Injuries occur frequently in both athletes and nonathletes. The ACL is a vital ligamentous stabilizer of the knee.

The 'partial' refers to a partial tear of this ligament.

Treatment of ACL tears ranges from conservative therapies to surgical ACL reconstruction. The patient's activity level (and expectations for activity in the future) is the most important factor guiding the choice of treatment.

Associated injuries, the degree of laxity, and the patient's age and willingness to pursue vigorous postoperative physical therapy are other major determinants.

A bone being smashed in and a partial ACL are two different things. A partial ACL is where you have a partial tear of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). To find this out your doctor can do one of many things, a clinical examination, a lachman test, pivot shift test (will hurt if you have a tear), a MRI and an arthroscope examination under anesthesia. Surgery may be needed...that is if you still want to play football. But you will need to have your doctor explain all of this in layman's terms.

it means that u have a partial tear in ur ACL... i would consider urself lucky u may not have to have surgery, several months of PT and u should be good as new...

unfortunatly this does mean the end of ur football season

i hope that u will have a speedy recovery

I'm not familiar with this injury but this is a link to the Mayo clinic that has a bunch of information. I find their stuff very dependable.
Partial tear of the ACL...
My husband did have this injury and they fixed it with laser surgery, but it didn't have anything to do with the bone just the ligament.
Good luck!
