I have torn my ACL. The thing is I was only walking when my knee went out. Has anyone else had this happen? |
I was walking on a flat surface and I felt my knee give way. I fell against the wall and then had a really hard time walking. I went to the dr. and he said I dislocated my knee. He sent me to PT which I have been doing for 3 weeks with hardly no improvement. I had my MRI and I tore my ACL. My dr. says it is impossible to tear an ACL by just walking! Has anyone else had this injury with only light activity? I totally agree this can happen with light activity. I was also walking. I blew my knee completely out. Everyone is made diffrently. However if you have been doing pt ( which is what I did for 6 month before they knew it was my ACL) you may have done more damage than what was originally thought. Before you have anything done you need to have the meniscus, and your cartilage checked as well. In 5 years I have had 3 major knee surgerys becuase there was more than what they had thought at first because they allowed me to walk on it since I couldn't do any damage while just walking. Good Luck...stick to your guns and don't let the docs puch you around. You know your body and how you feel. After all you are paying these people. I was playing with some friends when I was a teen, and slipped on an old cardboard box, dislocated my knee. I found out 5 years later that it was a torn ACL. Never thought of that. It is very easy to tear your ACL. One of my friends was just running when playing basketball and her knee went one way and her body the other. I think that the ACL is one of the easiest things to tear in the knee expecially for women and like yeah yep. Well, I had injured it a year before, and never had it looked at. But then I was walking and the ground shifted and then my knee went. |
