Why are ACL tears such a big problem? |
Why are ACL tears such a big problem in athletes? The ACL is the major ligament in your knee. Even if you have the surgery, the ACL doesn't usually gain complete motion or range back. It is prone to re-tearing as it is not as strong as it was. ACL is required for sports that require sudden movement in the knee Ligaments are the devices that help joints, such as knees and elbows function the way they do. When you put too much strain on a joint, it will tear the ligament and subsequently stop functioning the way it normally does. The best way to know if you've torn something is if you feel a pop in your knee or elbow. The next sign is excrutiating pain. In the end, your knee swells up and you can't put any weight on it. |
