How to save your ACL and Miniscus?

Both my brother and sister have torn either their ACL or Meniscus or both a couple times each. They did it from playing sports, and now my knee is starting to bother me. I was wondering if there are any exercises to strengthen these tendons, or the areas around them to keep them working and not ripping? Or is it time to call it quits?

Riding a bike is excellent for this. I had an ACL reconstruction done about 8 years ago and bike riding was a huge part of my physical therapy. Beyond that, you should talk to a physical therapist or a physical trainer for more exercises. Odds are you have a meniscus problem rather than an ACL injury. The meniscus is the cartilage between the bones of your knee that acts as padding for the bones. It can get torn. If this happens, the doctor can do arthroscopic surgery to clean-up and repair the damage. Recovery from arthroscopic surgery is minimal. If you actually have an ACL injury, you can to exercises to support the tendons, but eventually you will probably have to have the reconstruction surgery. However, it does not mean giving up sports. I am not an athletic person, but my knee was better than ever within about 4-5 months of the procedure.

straight leg raises, hip exercises, calf stretch, quad stretches,

I tore my ACL and my medial meniscus -

get help - but I imagine you can do straight leg raises and ice it down every day - I don't know - I'm not medical - just a person that's had a lot of injuries in the past.

Yes, there are many exercises and activities that you can do to help strengthen your legs, improve your agility, etc. I would seek out the assistance of a physical therapist and/or athletic trainer. Having sound medical advice when starting out on a program is the best route.

try walking regularly...no hard work
